I never understood the love Ference gets on this site. He was our worst Dman pretty much his whole time here. The season Sutter shipped him out he was absolutely terrible
He was good in Boston though

Not a fan of 'Toker. I'm going with Perry Berezan. The kid was a gamer. Good wheels and a hell of a smile. You still see him around town all the time at one charity function or another.

Ference had one moment where he let his temper get the best of him in a rivalry game and suddenly he is a scumbag.
Okotoker all the way on this one.

None of them were amazing in their time with the Flames in terms of putting up points. Though I really can't stand Ference now, especially after what he did to Stempniak, he was simply a warrior for the Flames in his time here (led the Flames in hits I believe in one playoff drive). I think that as a player moves on from the Flames, what he does shouldn't impact what he did do here, with the exception of any negativity he may direct at the Flames (which Ference didn't do). Real heart and soul player.
Berezan was such an important leader too. He was here longer, and is one of the unsung heroes I think. Continues to be a Flame. He gets the nod over Ference for that reason.
Tough choice though! Cassels wasn't here long enough. Chiasson was great, but also wasn't here long enough. Jokinen I actually liked, but he was simply too much of a polarizing figure for the Flames at times - though no fault of his own!

Objectively, i think Jokinen was the highest-performing player on that list.
There's an argument to be made that Ference was better while in Calgary than Jokinen was while in Calgary, but I'd still give that to Jokinen.

Voted Perry Berezan for his 1986 play.
Cassels was a decent dark years Centre for the few years he was here.
Olli Jokinen has been voted on already.
Ference was the other choice but his play with the Flames had less impact.
Steve Chiasson was a decent choice as well. He was a steady defense in the dark years but really only played one full season in the three he was in Calgary.

For that reason he gets the nod over Okotoker.

Curious, what do you mean by the bolded part?
He plays a bigger role, than Vernon, Macdonald, etc; ?

Terrible indeed, but unfortunately it was no accident. He had a blood-alcohol level 3 times the legal limit, and refused to take a cab home or accept a ride.

Actually like this list of players but the fact that Berezan "scored" the series clinching goal against the Oilers in 86 breaking up the dynasty and fans never letting him forget by chantting "shoooootttt!" evertime Smith went behind his own net decided this one.

Well, he is also an Oiler and a Green Party nutter. Both work against him.
I still voted for Ference. Mostly for what he did as a Flame, partially for giving Habs fans the middle finger.
Loved Berezan though.

Not wearing 21 though.
He was brutal wearing 21 that first season here, after the first trade.
He was good wearing number 13 in his second stint here.

Yes I think so. He has been at the centre of some of the biggest alumni activities - including being the driver behind the 3 on 3 tournament that was a great success for many years. When you hear about the old teams coming back together - Perry is often at the centre of it. And he has been the driver behind generating millions of dollars in fundraising from the alumni.
A lot of it is because he lives here and has a great business sense.

I'm a little disappointed in the #21. But I went Perry.
Hate to be this way but Ference is and always has been over-rated by Flames fans. In his career he peaked as a solid third pairing guy on good Flames and Bruins Teams.
Loved what he brought to the community, but what a joke that he is the Oilers best Dman.
edit: I guess after this summer there is a chance he could fall down their depth chart a bit.
