It's extremely not busy most of the way. Elbow Drive is busier than thousands of kms worth of the Trans Canada every day. Sometimes things just aren't worth the money.

Oh wait! What's this? The HOV lane has it's own freakin off ramp??
BRILLIANT!!
It's awesome. But they also have a population the size of our whole country as a tax base.

You should probably look up how much they spend on these roads there before proclaiming that we should follow their standards. If people here are freaking out that it will cost $100 million to fix Crowchild, or the cost of Stoney, then they're in for a shock...

I dunno, it's pretty typical of people to complain about how something needs to be fixed and then complain about the cost to fix it.

What did Winston Churchill say? "The best argument against democracy is a 2 minute conversation with the average voter." haha.

I said a page, not the whole frickin manual.

Yes, lots of cost, I get that. It just seems to me their approach on roadwork is better than ours across the board. I don't expect us to start busting out HOV with their own off ramps but traffic in large American cities just seems to flow better then ours.

Yes because the American system of complete and total reliance on personal vehicles is definitely the way we want the rest of the world to go.

I agree that their roadways are much better. Part of the issue may be that we have to build 4 season roads whereas cities like Houston, LA, Miami only have to worry about warmer weather. Also, aren't most of their roads cement which wouldn't work here because of the frost and ice?

But they do have a better overall design.

Since 1989, too.

Stop trying to make mass transit happen, It's not going to happen.

Ya...because busses have their own magical road system, right? Can't imagine how improved road flow would benefit anyone but personal vehicles

I think that's the first time I've ever seen Los Angeles held up as a model of transportation efficiency.

you know, out of all the threads on CP that have ever been closed or changed or merged or fata'ed, this one is especially interesting that it's been left alone to just kinda... hang in there.

110 pages (depending on your settings kids) and 2,190 posts- this puppy has gone in a lot of directions. Most recently, the discussion regarding Los Angeles' public art expenditure % and highway design system appears, at a glance, to be particularly off topic. But who the hell am I to criticize???

I can't NOT click on it when it's at the top of the threads in the FOI forum.. what if by chance I just happen to miss THAT update we've all grown such long grey beards waiting for? The ultimate holy grail of all Flames newsy updates?! The new building update is here!!!!! Whoops tricked again. How many times have I been tricked? A fataing lot, that's for sure. You'd think a guy would get the picture that it just isn't worth clicking. But wait... WAIT.. juuuuust maybe this is the day, and people are chatting about it!!! *Click* Faaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttaaaaaaa...............

This thread I think must be the most ultimate tease ever to be on this site. I'm not even saying shut it down... it's got to be some kind of a record of irrelevant immaterial non-nonsensical banter.

Our roads are under construction for years just to get that little off ramp for HOC lanes. And by under construction I mean lanes blocked off, Orange cones up, and two dudes working.

I'm sure this picture has been shown on this site but this is the first time I've seen it.

I don't even know what to think about this thing.

We really need to stop playing up the cowboy aesthetic like that. There can be a nod to our city's western heritage without being so ham-fisted about it.
