I don't love the contract nor do I hate it. Good player and I think he will fit in well.
Canucks made the playoffs every year he was on the team. Didn't make it the first year he was gone. I don't believe in coincidence so either Raymond is a playoff making machine or Vancouver is no good.

I think Raymond a a great fit as well. He has high end speed, a great shot and can play up and down the lineup.

BigTuna is the only reason there isn't a "Toronto is no good" thread.
It would just be one big 100 page long self-gratifying BigTuna festival.

Well considering Raymond's team didn't make the playoffs last year I think the answer is that Vancouver is no good.

He was okay for part of his time last year with the Leafs. I won't miss him - but I think he can still play well. Hopefully he'll do well in Calgary.

Hockey news forecaster ssys he's equally adept at scoring goals and setting up linemates from either wing position.
This signing makes a little more sense now than it did July 1 with this info.

Raymond's versatility, along with Colborne and Hudler also able to play RW, means that there could be a full-time top 6 LW spot up for grabs (Gaudreau/Baertschi).
We may be weak at RW on depth charts but we do have quite a bit of versatility and Raymond definitely adds to this. Really helps to be able to shift guys around as the kids are getting chances to play.

To me, Raymond is a stop gap. I don't see him being with this team when we are competitive again, which is fine, you still need to ice a roster.
But not really happy or mad about this deal. I really don't think he's going to be here long term or a part of the solution.

I hate seeing him penciled in to our top line in the 'predict the lineups' threads.... ugh.
Hopefully he will prove me wrong

Hate it or not, he's one of our only proven players so until one of our own prospects out plays him, he'll be in our top 6. Our team is young and rebuilding, having him in our top 6 isn't that bad as he'll provide some NHL talent but the fact that he's one of our best most likely means we'll be getting a good pick again this coming draft.

Me too. I think the top three lines could be interchangeable depending on who's hot.
