Does anybody know a good place to store tires?

As I live in an apartment I can't store them anymore in my parking spot.

I need 245/35/18 and 225/40/18 in the Pilot Super Sports, almost ordered them off tire rack but I was hoping to get them cheaper locally.

The 18 is the really important part if you aren't swapping to larger diameter rims. So long as you know how to keep the sidewall ratio close, you can play with the first two.

I use the Tire Rack calculator on E90Post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12

EG: Stock tires on a 335i are 225/45/17. I moved up to new 19" wheels and put 275/35/19 on the rear. Difference in diameter is -0.165" or -.622%, which means my speedometer will read the same at 60 MPH. Of course, as speed increases, this will ultimately cause my speedometer to read lower than it should, but the difference will occur at speeds that I'm already breaking the law anyway.

I found the tires for $1150 shipped on tiretrends. That seems pretty reasonable. Should I be concerned if the fronts are 88Y and the backs 92Y XL?

I am pretty sure these are the exact size I just ordered. I will get you a price tomorrow. I am pretty sure I can do them for that price, I just need to talk to our parts manager.

All the guys that pm'd me about tires, will here from me Monday afternoon sometime.

I can do them for $1075 + tax and install. But I would prefer to sell them loose, as our tire machine here doesn't do well with run flats.

Had my Pilot SuperSports put on this morning, and took it out over my lunch break to burn the stickers off.

BMW owners, seriously.... ditch your stupid Dunlop run flats. The car handles better, rides better, is quieter, doesn't sound like the struts are going to erupt through the hood on speed bumps, and grips WAAAAAAAAAAAY better. The steering even feels better weighted now. Before it almost seemed like the car had no power steering.

Why BMW insists on sticking with this ridiculous run flat plan is beyond me. I have no issues carrying around a 40 pound spare, in exchange for having the right tires on the car. And all this comes at half the price of their stupid ass run flats.

After being on them for a month now, I can certainly say you were bang on. Fantastic tires, much better then my old ones. They felt a little weird at first but after a few days I was amazed at how stable my car felt. Cornering is equally as solid.

Just this last weekend coming back from Nanton we got swamped by a HUGE rainstorm. Road was coverd in water, the way these tires shed water was amazing.

Thanks again for the tip, they've been great so far.

I have had the Pilot SuperSports on my S4 for a couple of summers and they are brilliant. Best combination of quiet and stickiness I've ever driven. Very much worth the price, I'm finding they're wearing quite well too.

Rather than making a new thread, I figured this was the best place to ask about this...I'm looking at new all-seasons for my car and was looking at the Michelin Defender, as I had the Michelin Harmony tires on a previous car and they were awesome. The person I talked to at a local shop recommended I save a bunch of money and go with the General Altimax RT43 as they said the tires were very similar, and you're just paying for the brand.

Are they correct? I did some google searching but didn't really get a yes or no answer to this.

I give a positive vote for Generals. I threw a set of 10 ply General Grabber AT2s on my truck in Spring, and they've been awesome. I drive Stoney the whole way, every day, and then I drive around on construction sites. Nary a puncture, and the wear has been impressive. 20,000 km so far, and they still look almost new. I could probably get 80 or more out of them, but I'm a tire dork, so I'll be replacing them around 40, and I'll still get a couple hundred for the old ones off kijiji.

Best part about them is that they've got the snowflake rating, so they're a legal winter tire. That probably isn't the case for your car tires, but I mentioned it in case anyone looking for LT tires read this and got to thinking.

4X4, how are they in the snow? My mate has an all year snow rated tire on his truck and they are not as good (or at least don't seem to be) as a true snow tire.
