What I love about CP is that right away I knew this would be a place to see YT clips of him at his best, unlike my Facebook and Twitter timelines where everyone is all of a sudden a psychaiatrist or mental health expert. I think I'll spend the rest of the night in here.
I'm pretty thankful my feed isn't full of that - it's been very similar to here.
I grew up watching him. I looked at his IMBD and realized how many of his movies I've seen - and how much he was involved in movies my kids grew up on, that we watched together. And, now that they're young adults, how much of his old stuff it's been fun to share with them, laugh ourselves hoarse over - or be touched by, like Dead Poet's Society, as an example. There have been a few tears tonight, I'm not ashamed to say. My kids, even.

Such a funny man ... hugely funny, and then he added acting to it and I was amazed. Good Will Hunting is one of my favs and it wouldn't be if Robin Williams wasn't that character.
A tremendous talent, but as much as he was known for his comedy - my favorite performances were the ones where he delivered more quiet performances: Good Will Hunting, Awakenings...and what I would argue was his finest performance...when he was a guest star on the first season of Homicide.
RIP.

It is said the difference between Genuis and insanity is not much at all. Robin Williams is my insane Genuis!
I liked the comment from his wife calling him " An Artist ". Truly how he should be remembered. I would say " An Artistic Legend ". Calling him a comedian is just an insult.
Anyone who speaks ill of the man, anyone, you should be ashamed of yourself. We all know Robin Williams for the happiness he provided in our lives. If anyone is gonna judge him let me say this, you are not qualified! What have you done! God, Allah, Budda, they are all up there with him at this moment laughing their asses off with him. And Crying with him too!
Rest in peace Robin, and thank you!

I rarely feel a thing when a celeb dies. This one gets to me a bit.
As a pre-teen, I received a cassette tape of "A Night at the Met" from my uncle who attended the show live. For several subsequent years, I was looking for every opportunity to work one of his jokes into casual conversation.
There are only two occasions where I've felt an actual connection, a lasting sadness when it comes to a celebrity passing away...almost as if I knew them in person. Michael Jackson was the first, Robin Williams the second. That will be his legacy. Millions (billions?) of people that feel as though they lost a close friend.
RIP to an absolute legend. I've literally never laughed harder than I did during his golf skit.

For one of his more serious works, "What Dreams May Come" was exceptional IMHO. Panned by some though. (54% on Rotten Tomatoes).
Worth a watch... especially now.
Edit, here is the trailer...
A fine movie - with a good performance from Williams and fantastic visual direction. Cube Gooding pretty much ruined it though.
It was the big hollywood movie for Vincent Ward - a NZ director who previously had directed two of my very favorite movies that few people seen: Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey and Map of the Human Heart.
Anyways that's off topic - I encourage people to see What Dreams May Come to see another example of Williams' dramatic chops.
