I think if Prentice can re-build PC support it will come from both soft WR supporters and Liberal Party fans. I think a majority of Liberal party supporters in this province have written off the party and now vote PC, and are probably heavily involved in PC party riding politics, thus pushing the party further left.
You know the old saying: "If you can't beat 'em join 'em"
It'll be interesting to see who the Libs can get to replace Hehr in that riding. Pretty good candidate who commanded a lot of respect will be tough to replace given the lack of quality in that party at a provicial level.
My assessment of Edmonton's political landscape, and where Edmonton's seats would go if the vote were held today, is this:
As much as it pains me to say it, NDP will win the majority of the seats. Well organized and active on the ground in specifically chosen ridings. I believe they are prepared to write off many other ridings and focus resources on specific areas. Because of their elbow grease and effort, I suspect they will be able to get votes from people previously too apathetic to participate. The NDP will have earned their increases through hard work.
Liberals may be wiped out. Sherman is vulnerable and their votes are up for grabs.
PCs will come second in terms of seats won. Still popular and they will have Stephen Mandel trumping that Prentice is a change for the better. Mandel is still very popular and his opinion matters.
WR: I think the WR will break through into Edmonton, but only a few seats. I suspect it will be in the burbs. Possibly in one or two other areas if they get a certain candidate to run again. Fear of WR cuts to government staff are prevalent. It would be akin to a Calgarian's fear if Trudeau announced he will introduce a large carbon tax, or look to halt oilsands development, or both. That being said, the WR does appeal to the accountability that is demanded by the electorate.
I think the WR will win some other seats adjacent to Edmonton (Leduc, Redwater, Slave Lake which is obviously further out).

You won't be voting Conservative in the next federal election then?

Corbella: Did Redford learn her high-flying ways at UN?
Having many friends who work for charitable organizations that rush into the world’s most grave disasters and crises, I have long heard the stories about just how entitled many UN workers are and how lavish many of them live while they are tasked to ostensibly help the poorest of the poor.

Not that I care to stand up for Redford but it is a miracle that Corbella's source in the story Campbell was not afflicted by this UN disease when he worked for the UN. In fact her source says that when he worked for the UN and the types of projects he did can be good and not burdened by this sense of entitlement. That made me chuckle the same way his UNICEF story made him chuckle.
More damning insiders report from the Herald today. I'm bragging here but I pretty much saw her for who she is during the premiership election. A lawyer who doesn't practice law and a human right worker who took advantage of her position rather than serving the poor. Her CP moniker Redfraud suits her very well.

I'm sure a lot of liberals are thinking we should listen to you more.
This is such a designed anonymous source leak to me and who knows if its true. I mean there's no doubt that Redford is a self entitled person with a witch complex, we know that she was difficult to work with.
But this looks like an anonymous leak designed to make certain members running for the leadership Lukaszuk cough cough look like a brave standup guy who stood in the eye of the hurricane and yelled out
"No More Alison, your madness has to stop"
Can I get an amen
"The finance minister was a standup guy who didn't know, and when he found out he storned into the office of She Satan and said this-ah has to stop"
Can I get a hallelujah
The Provincial PC's have purged their ranks of the great evil abuser and everything is sparkly white again
Can I get a what what?

Doesn't that happen for every Premier regardless of the party? Its not a political decision. How hilarious would it be if Danielle Smith was the one who got to unveil it though? (Not that I want her as Premier either)

Even more hilarious would be Jim Prentice unveiling it.

No way. I would love to watch Smith, her bitter rival, have to do it. It's not even a partisan shot or anything. I just love that kind of thing because after a few years of fighting tooth and nail, to have to present your rival with an honour at all would be so amusing to watch.

Except that in this scenario, Smith is Premier while Redford (assuming she even shows up for the unveiling) would have to sit there and eat a crapburger while faux-smiling as she accepts the honour from her hated rival who took her job.
