When I was there I did the ghost walk tour. I found it an interesting way to see parts of downtown while learning some history about the city. I also recommend Red fish Blue fish if you like seafood (its down by down by the docks).

I don't think it has been mentioned yet but if your a fan of old architecture, check out Craigdarroch Castle. Been there once before and some of the artisanship is incredible inside.

Those are terrible options listed above. For the beer lover and all within walking distance you have Phillips Brewing, Vancouver Island Brewing (personal favorite), and Hoyne Brewing (amazing local brewery). Moon Above Water is also close if you have the sobriety and desire, but isn't phenomenal. Canoe, Swan, and Lighthouse are also in the area. Let me tell you now. Best day in Victoria we had right there. Everything else is actually pretty boring. Miniature world - great if it was still the 1980s, Butchard Gardens - awesome if you have a vehicle, warf - great for an hour, Chinatown - good for 5 minutes. Beacon Hill Park is actually pretty cool, so props there, but seriously...beer. 20 posts in and no mention of the walkable breweries in the city? Shame on you CP, what is this? Basically, the pubs and live music are great at night. Everything else is actually quite boring and a waste of money. So just drink sample beer and actually have a fun time. Disclaimer: We were there a month ago and tried to fill 3 days...it was difficult.

Then you are not trying hard enough. I live here and I am still findimg out things. If you stay strictly to downtown Victoria then yes I would agree. Their are many things within reasonable distance to downtown to explore. The options are not terrible. It seems you were just wanted a drinking vacation. FYI its Moon UNDER water.
Walk ing the muesuem takes 2- 3 hours, legislation tour takes 2-3 hours and walking. The Robert Bateman takes 1-2 hours fill in the time. Potentially that's 6 to 8 hours there. Fill the night with eating and drinking and there is a full day. That's only 3 things.
Honestly the best thing to do is go down to the Visitors center . Tell them about what you have for avalible time . The girlfriend gave me the list of attractions. Literally hundreds. Everything can be bought right at the visitor center. They dont work on commission as Victoria tourisim is a non-profit . They are also the ONLY information center that is NOT affiliated with the government. will p.m you tomorrow still tho.

Sorry, Moon Under Water, you are right. We weren't looking for a drinking vacation, but after already being in Tofino/Ucluelet (seeing the whales) and then being in downtown Victoria without a car...there really isn't too much. We aren't the museum type. Just wandering around and that gets old quickly. My favorite was trying to understand Cricket at Beacon Hill Park. You can't argue that the warf, Chinatown, Empress, Legislature, Holland Point, and Beacon Hill Park is a good day, but not exactly fantastic. We had fun and Victoria is great, but I'm just saying that tasting the local breweries beat out many of the other attractions. For a one day trip, it's an option.

I also absolutely love Greek food and the Ithaka Greek restaurant is worth every penny. The owners are phenomenal and help make the experience second to none. The saganaki is amazing. We also ate at Vista 18 at the top of the Chateau Victoria for our anniversary and had a great table for the sunset. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. There are good things in Victoria, you just need to know what you are looking for. There is music in the park at Beacon Hill on Sunday afternoons which is good.

Yes, the empress is boring. Chinatown tho has hidden "alleys" tho. The WARF is one of the places I visit daily tho. You guys should of walked up to the castle or Spinnakers. Just so you know too if your stuck with out a car take H20 taxis or the large selection of free shuttles to the attractions like the butchart gardens. Maybe Its because I have known about different free forms of transportation for years I forget that its not common knowledge. Walking down Dallas road Is always good time too.

If breakfast was a woman, this one would be Kate Beckinsale.

Great job! Send the tourists to the crappy places while keeping the really, really good places a secret for just the locals!!
Yes, everyone visiting Victoria, ONLY EVER go to the Blue Fox for breakfast!!!!
(I could throw a rock and hit six places that are better than the Blue Fox).

Yes, If you love good food Victoria is your place. Visa 18 is good. I use to work there when It was Bon Rouge.
Music in the park now happens multiple times a week now , in multiple spots in Victoria.
Like you said There are good things to do. You do need to know what you want to do tho otherwise you will find it quite difficult.

Anyway, since I now feel that I should actually give some helpful advice: Go to the RBCM (Royal British Columbia Museum). It is a top-shelf museum. Skip all other crappy tourist traps that people may suggest. Otherwise, if you think you might have even a passing interest in gardens, Butchart Gardens is absolutely a MUST-SEE! There is nothing that good in Alberta. From the inner harbour, take a water taxi and hit Spinnakers for food, craft beers. Hit Cadboro Bay, or better yet Willows Beach if the weather is hot. Finish your night off with a few slices at Second Slice while you sample some of the more popular smokables with some of the local street kids. Have fun!
