At least they are green and not black!

Will need to see them live before making a true judgment, but based on that photo the new Riders uniform is just okay overall.

I could take or leave the helmet. I normally quite prefer a simple helmet, but this might end up looking better on game day than it seems to look here.

The jersey itself is actually not bad at all IMO - notably except for the small black wheat stalks superimposed within the numbers. I get the intent; unfortunately the execution is lacking, and it just looks cluttered and "over-engineered".

Oregon Ducks say hi.

That is truly awful.

Like another poster has mentioned, the helmets are going to look like watermelon shells. From a distance, you're not going to see all of those little wheat stalks, but just watermelon stripes

but whatever. i still dont understand the logic behind watermelon helmets...

"duhhh.... watermelons are green and Roughriders wear green. So we must wear watermelons!"

can you imagine using the same logic if Stamps fans wore blood or set their hair on fire?

Rider fans are no good

I believe all the teams are supposed to be getting them (except BC, as they got theirs last year) so it will be interesting to see what the other teams come up with.

The more I see it the more the Riders jersey is growing on me. Not a black jersey so that automatically makes it decent.

Playing as bad as any i can remember in many many years.

Horrible on offense...mediocre to bad on defense...Higgins will be fired by Monday IMO, and Popp will take over as HC like he wanted and Garcia will start taking reps in practice..

There's no way Troy Smith can continue to play in the second half, right?

I think it would be cool to see Garcia play in the CFL again.

He already has a locker:

“@vickihallch: Uh, Jeff Garcia has his own locker in the Als locker-room? Seriously? And he's supposed to be a coach?”

Higgins with a bizarre decision. Needs 16 points, and goes for 3?

Brutal QB, brutal coach...man Montreal is pathetic. What the heck is Higgins thinking kicking a field goal with a little over 3 minutes left in the game and they are down 30-14, I believe. Troy Smith got the arm but his throw is all over (high, under/overthrown), just terrible.

Jeff Garcia is one of my all-time favorite Stamps QB but I sure hope he doesn't make a fool of himself and go back playing in the CFL. He started playing as a Stampeder and he should end as a Stampeder.

I'm on my phone or I'd post the link but the Argos had a sneak peek of their jersey today. It looks like there is a giant A on the front of the jersey in place of the numbers

Watermelon helmets have been around football for ages, I don't understand how this became a Rider thing.

Not a fan of the new uni, too busy.

Feel free to set your hair on fire..... :P

not sure where you're getting this from as it's almost exclusively a Riders fan thing.

Normal people who have used the fruit as a "helmet" have either carved a helmet as decorative bowl for a fruit platter

or have used a watermelon skin design on a bike helmet for kids

but only Rider fans would actually use a real watermelon as a helmet

Even Rider fans are claiming it originated with them

Montreal is continuing to be a mess...coaching changes today. Dinwiddie officially OC, Garcia QB coach, and Turk Schonert becoming receivers coach. Smith out as starting QB with Brink coming in instead.

What? I thought Dinwiddle have been the official OC since they got rid of Rick Worman. As for the starting QB not much changes there. Alex Brink is a step down of Smith who actually can throw but inaccurate passer. Maybe they rushed Troy Smith into starting last season.

good to see Montreal suffer after all those years of Calvillo. Its good for them, keeps them humble. Give them, 6 or 7 years of humble pie to eat.

Who plays a football game on a Tuesday? If there are 10,000 people there I would be surprised
