Too bad we didn't see this version of Hutchison more often. Great game from him.

2 outs, one on and Gibby yanks him? Not sure I like that one.

Janssen hadn't pitched in a week or something ... that might have been in? Either way, bravo to Hutch on one of the all-time greatest pitching performances by a Blue Jay. Fun to watch!

It was pitch count (115 pitches), Hutchinson just walked a player....
Tough decision for sure, but personally I thought it was the correct move...

Also: the Jays have promoted Daniel Norris to AAA Buffalo. What a year he is having.

I get the high pitch count, but with 2 outs I let him go one more batter. Might be a different story if the tying run was coming to the plate, but it wasn't. I guess I just feel for a guy that pitched that well to come that close to a complete game, I guess I think he deserved to go at one more batter.

I think it is pretty common to take a pitcher out of a game so they can get a standing ovation from the crowd as they walk off of the field after a great performance. I'm wondering if this may have been why he was taken out of the game.

Tough call for sure.....
A key factor he is one year from Tommy John Surgery... pitch count is really important factor with this guy.

Not to mention it's not like it was a 9-1 game. If the next hitter jacks one out, it's a 5-3 game, and Baltimore's offence is pretty dangerous.
I personally think Gibbons has left his starters in for one too many hitters or innings a fair bit this year. Moreso with Dickey and Buehrle, than the younger guys.
I agree this was the right move. Why stress a guy for a stat that really doesn't mean much?

Thought it was the right move, I understand that a CG looks way better at the end of the night as opposed to 8 and 2/3 but it's all about winning games right now. Janessen hasn't thrown since Thursday and is dynamite at closing things. Like that Hutch was disappointed that he didn't close it out, shows he's got some good compete in him.
