I had to go with Fleury. When he was traded, it really felt like the end of an era. He was the face of the franchise for several years. As good as Nilsson was, no one connects him to the Flames like they do Fleury.

The Swedes are kind of getting screwed in these polls. There are so many numbers that Loob and Nilsson would have won in a landslide if they had worn them instead of 12 and 14.

A better example was when Fleury flew in on a forecheck and absolutely racked 6'4" elder statesman Larry Robinson. By the look on Robinson's face you could tell it had been a long, long time since anyone had hit him like that.

Voted for Fleury, but you are right. Loob/Nilsson were outstanding players. I remember that crossbar trick shot when it originally aired.
Hopefully we'll have more and more good players getting screwed on the polls, as the new guys start to make their mark.

Gotta be Fleury. But Nilsson was one of the best Flames ever as well.

growing up in the 80s/90s, fleury was easily my favourite player.
#14 in a flames jersey will always be theo, just like #12 is iginla, #93 is gilmour, #2 macinnis, etc.

I saw Kent Nilsson play and he was amazing on some nights. If he had worn the #13 for example, I would have voted for the "Magic Man". Wayne Gretzky once said Kent may have been "the most skilled hockey player I have ever seen in my entire career" That's high praise indeed.
686 points in 553 games. Thats good for 9th all time points per game in NHL history which is an amazing accomplishment putting him ahead of hockey legends like Lafleur, Jagr, Sakic, Yzerman. (Theo weighs in at an also fairly impressive 48th)
All that said, #14 in Calgary Flames history belongs to Theoren Fleury. Has to be the most exciting player to ever wear a Flames jersey. Heart, courage, magic with the puck, amazing skills, never backed down from anyone. Lucky enough to watch him as a rookie make the team. Instant fan favorite from day one.
Some may argue Theo deserves to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame and may have a valid point, but there is no doubt #14 should be flying beside #9 and #30 in the rafters of the Dome.

Two of my top 4 all time faves (1-Nilsson, 1- Fotiu, 3 Kipper, 4 Fleury). Had to go with the one i liked more - Nilsson.
Most skilled player ever to put on the Jersey and his franchise season in points has never come close to being touched.
I love Fleury - and think he should be in the Hall of Fame - but Kent Nilsson was the reason I became a Flames fan.

Theo.
#14 should be in the rafters, bottom line.

Both were great in their own way, but Nilsson gets my vote simply because he was my first favourite Flame after the team came to Calgary.

Theo easily. Not to dimish the immense skill and accomplishments that Nilsson brought. But, I don't see how you can discount the longevity and impact to the franchise that Theo had. Even after the exodus of star players in the early 1990's Fleury continued to carry the team and play at a very high level.
I understand people wanting to recognize guys like Nilsson and Loob -- but in the end, their contributions were much more short lived than the winners of the polls. There is a reason that #14 and #12 are the most worn jerseys by fans in the history of the franchise.
