Couldn't disagree more. There's more teams to cheer for and against this year and the China thing added way more substance. Last year was so bush league. It seemed to be a typical inferior Canadian Big Brother type of copycat last year

It's funny that last year people were complaining because they didn't leave Canada, now people are complaining that they did.
It's really looking like the hockey players are going to run away with this unless the other teams start to team up against them.
Even after watching every team complete the task, I still have no idea how that gambling game works.

That's the thing with this show like I still don't know why teams fail or succeed in the dancing task.

it just wasn't their day. the way how they asked every team to help in the casino challenge was a bit pathetic. they should just observe and watch....
the olympic girls are pretty hard workers and a tough team to beat.

Suki and Jinder might be too young to realize that it's a competition and people generally are not going to help you.
The hockey girls are running away with this. Testament that sports don't just help you physically but also psychologically to remain focused.

Inferior? I personally think the last 2 seasons of BB Canada were better than the American versions aired the same year. This years US BB has been pretty good though.

Agreed. However, when you are fired up and in a race like that, I think it would have been somewhat easy to miss. I know when I'm racing around the tunnel vision really sets in.
But ya, they are waaaaaay to worked up sometimes. Last night at one point they were both trying to run in separate directions, running back to each other and then another direction again. It was like they were going to explode they were going so many ways at once.

Some of the tasks were dull. Taking a taxi to some temple and light the fire crackers wasn't too difficult to do nor fun. And the tower bungie jumping wasn't tough too. Maybe they should ask the contestants to sing O'Canada while bungie jumping. They don't pass unless they sing two lines while in the air, that would be fun to watch.

Yeah, I was able to understand that much, but it seemed like there was a lot going on for a game with only 4 possible outcomes.

Like roulette you can apparently bet either on a single outcome or a combination. I didn't look that closely but I'd assume the table probably has multiple places for the same bet as well so the gamblers don't have to reach across the whole table.

Suki and Jinder are awful. Non elimination legs are the worst.
In amazing race U.S.A, you could always count on a non elimination leg when the last place team were two hot girls.

The host has an accent?
Honestly, I don't like reality-type stuff so have never watched more than an episode or two of this show before this year. This year I'm watching because it's Canadian and I knew they were going to China, where we went last summer.

More to cheer for and against?
Can't see it, compared to last.
Hockey girls are interesting because I doubt they can hold it together.
I love the gay guys, mostly because they are so gay, but they have no legitimate chance.
Surfer dudes are OK but men.
Of course the evil French brothers will be hated.
No one else of any interest at all
In regard to going abroad - I think it's OK to be uniquely Canadian. The production value will always be lower than a US network, so I celebrate making it our own and showing off our incredible country.

I guarantee this being a non-elimination leg has everything to do with demographics and nothing to do with random happenstance. If Suki and Jinder were eliminated it would instantly kill interest in much of the brown/indian audience watching the series. In all honesty, you could break each team down to the demographic audience they hit.
1. Rex and Bob - Gay community
2. Mickey and Pete - 15 year old girls
3. Pierre and Michel - Quebec/Francophone
4. Laura and Jackie - Lesbian community
5. Ryan and Rob - 21-30 year old ladies/west coasters
6. Jen and Shawn - East coasters/middle aged couples
7. Cormac and Nicole - Prairies, and the typical mother/son duo
8. Sukhi and Jinder - Ethnic community (honestly surprised there isn't also an Asian team)
9. Natalie and Meaghan - Star power, team that can be advertised across the country and general audiences will tune in because they are familiar with them as gold medalists (just like Hal and Joanne from season 1)
10. Alain and Audrey - Quebec/young couple/typical fighting couple who frequently have breakdowns only to kiss and make up afterwards
11. Shahla and Nabeela - Ethnic community x2 (so glad they were booted right away)

This was the fourth leg of the race. More often than not, the fourth leg is a non-elimination leg.
Like you said, every team hits some demographic, so no matter who came in last this week, you could have said, "this was a non-elimination leg because they didn't want to lose the _____________ viewers".
If you look at the ratings history of both the original version and last year's Canadian version, the week-to-week ratings hardly fluctuate at all.
Any significant drops in viewership almost always coincide with a holiday weekend or another significant event airing opposite the episode, and the numbers bounce back the following week to the regular levels. In Canada, the episode of the US version that airs on the same night as the Grey Cup tends to have the lowest ratings each year.
There appears to be absolutely no impact on the ratings based upon which team is eliminated in any given week.

Poignant finish tonight and I respect dearly how Nicole tried to impart on her son the virtue of perseverance.
Next week there's a hockey challenge, could the hockey girls ever lose that one?

I can't figure out how Nicole couldn't hit a target? Surely the range master would've given her tips on what to do (especially if they helped out Suki who originally held the rifle like an RPG lol). I just don't see how they could allow people on a live fire range without proper instruction. Plus those rifles are incredibly easy to use.
