Yup, really enjoying the game again. I guess I'd have to disagree about not bothering to play it on the PS4 and it looking the same. Though they did a good job pushing the abilities of the PS3, I'd suggest that it is a pretty big difference in my opinion. It was nice to be able to flip back and forth between the systems to see the major difference in image quality and performance. I'd imagine it is why the Photo mode has been so popular in the new PS4 version.
Then again, I am surely biased as I am a big fan of the game.
To fair, like you have said before, some people simply cannot tell the difference between 720p and a proper full 1080p. Or can't experience a difference doubling the original 20-30 fps versus a pretty solid 60 fps. Those people are likely holding off for further price cuts before ever upgrading to new consoles anyhow, better value proposition for them at down the road.

IMO those pictures show just how little difference between versions given the leap in power the PS4 has as you call it major I call it minor as it's more like the difference between Assasin's Creed last gen vs this gen. Certainly not worth the purchase if you have the PS3 version or recently played it but definitely the best game available on PS4 if you haven't played it.

Well the sheer number of pixels is just over double and the frame rate is the same so you're roughly talking about 4-5 times the previous generation. But you are still right, some people cannot tell (or care if) there is a difference with higher resolutions and/or higher frame rates.
Given the performance difference just between the PS4 and the Xbone alone, maybe there is something to the notion that 360 fans aren't in a rush to upgrade to an Xbone with the minor differences that they are seeing. In fact, I think it was the Xbox Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer that first postulated that, I could be wrong though. I understand it though, like you say if customers just see a minor difference there is little incentive to upgrade to a new generation console (PS4 or Xbone) and the market will reflect that.

next gen consoles are selling like hotcakes the market is reflecting that people want them...I already see a major upgrade in the graphics and its only going to get bigger as games are optimized and developed specifically for next gen.
Played NBA 2k14? Game represents a MAJOR graphical upgrade on past gen and for a launch title its quite amazing. At the launch of the 360 people were saying it was a slight upgrade on the original xbox (see gun) these things take time

Also Ryse: Son of Rome was huge graphical upgrade from anything previously seen, it's just ridiculous how pretty that game runs. Even seeing some games like Titanfall can be quite impressive considering everything that's going on all at once.

Yes. Same reason I had/have a 360, PS3 and Wii. Before that a Xbox and PS2. The 360 was the default console last gen. I really dislike playstation controllers so for cross platofrm games that is typically the deciding factor unless one actually runs much better on one console compared to another (not talking a slightly different draw distance but honest to goodness runs smoother). PS4 one is better but still not as good. May even get a WiiU but not sure at this point. Kids are satisfied with the 3DS.
For me the Xbox One would likely be the default because of the other stuff. I like having the game on in the corner while I play (especially during intermissions). I like being able to switch back and forth...yes with voice. I LOVE being able to turn the damn thing off from across the room when the kids are pissing me off. There was a lot of stuff we wondered about using but find oursleves liking those things. Even the ridiculous Xbox record that. I thought I'd never use it and low and behold early on I scored a beauty of a goal in Fifa and I yelled the damn line out! It's an enjoyable console. I'm sure the PS4 is as well.
In the end, coming up on a year into this next generation I think it's actually pretty clear that a new generation wasn't really needed yet. Both companies likely could have held off for another year or two and went to something truly next gen gaming wise. Doesn't mean I won't buy (first world problem and all).

Kinda strange game to bundle it with but it looks like the white Xbone is coming with Sunset Overdrive. The Xbone is saved!
Seriously though, it should be out October 28th.

It should come with special erasable markers so you can "tag" your XBox One like the art style of Sunset Overdrive.

Oh I can tell but there's no way you can call that a "big difference" and I haven't seen a review that said the difference graphical difference was significant or a reason to purchase the games again and I have seen more discussed about the differences from 30 fps to 60 fps but even then they said you couldn't really tell until going back and forth between the old an new version. It's still a great game though but it looks simply like what it is which is a 720p game upscaled to 1080p.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I would give Last of Us Remastered a 9.5 out of 10. Never played the PS3 version. I thought the game play was a bit clunky at the start, but now knowing that you can do upgrades to improve gun sway and weapon selection, it makes sense.

Yeah it's a little unfortunate they didn't fix some of the collision issues with you AI partners who at times get in your way and won't move or the pauses when you try to boost them up platforms but those are very minor quibbles.
I would hope in a sequel they could map out some of the items like the nail bombs and Molotov coctails to buttons rather than have to cycle through them with the D-pad as the infected usually jump all over you so fast you have to pretty well deal with them with whatever weapon you have in your hand at the time which could be just a brick or bottle which makes it impossible to deal with a clicker unless you have the shiv upgrade.

I'm looking to finally take the splash into next-gen and get one of the consoles.
The PS4 seems like the better choice at the moment. I'm looking at getting Destiny so I would assume the $470 BestBuy/Futureshop Destiny bundle will be my best bet?
Any speculation on if there will be a back to school deal within the next month or so?

Might as well put in the pre-order now and keep an eye out on BB/FS/Amazon. Price has moved around from 399, 469 and 449 at various times.

To be fair, as evidence by this thread, a lot of people didn't play Last of Us for various reasons, and now, with a PS4, have the opportunity to.
It's no more or less of a "cash grab" than every remastered game ever. Still good value for a good price.
