why PEK? UA just recently opened up a direct CTU to SFO route - 4 or 5 days/week - Chengdu is a great point to point destination and has just as good domestic china connections as Beijing?
YYC - CTU would be a perfect option

What's going on at the airport right now? I've seen 3 go-arounds and another airliner fly right over downtown in an unusual pattern (not a Q400).

Yes, CTU is doing well... but UA already has an extensive Asian network from SFO. CTU is not the #2 destination to Asia you serve when your only existing flight is a single 763 to NRT. More importantly, we have heard directly from AC that they are seeking a viable PEK slot for YYC .

Also, with the amount of Chinese purchases of Canadian companies, it would make more sense for PEK, since most of those purchases are made with ties to Chinese Goverment.

Southwest has ended their deal with SeaWorld... the whalejets and Penguin One are a thing of the past. If you never got to see them at a US airport, have a look:

Glad some got some spectacular air to air footage of the last airworthy Vulcan before they have to mothball her for good. I can't wait for the extended version.

Probably not much of a stretch for the type of activity that's been going on in Germany since the win. Lots of World Cup babies in 9 months' time, surely...

Most likely a charter flight, I guess once we see where it departs to we can guess who chartered it. My gut feeling is another RAF charter flight.

I passed some British Army trucks on the way in to the city so you may be right.

Yup, it's an RAF charter. Flight plan is filed to leave Calgary at 1330 for RAF Brize Norton.
