And that should not shock anyone. Rogers are a bunch of cheapskates. Highest TV ratings ever at this point in the season, wouldn't want to try to make it more likely that they make the playoffs.

Not only that, if the Jays stay in conetntion into mid August and into September, you can expect sell-outs every game. The beer and food sales alone...makes me sick that ownership is so cheap.

That Mike Avile/Yan Gomes trade still chaps my ass. What a terrible trade.

Was looking at the Blue Jays sked for the next month and really it's pretty favorable. They play the Orioles, Tigers and Yankees all at home. They have a realistic chance of winning the division and if not that then the wildcard.
IF they can get healthy.

Yeah... AA's obsession (at least at the time) with Right-Handed Relievers came back to bite them in the a$$. Yan Gomes, who pretty much immediately became an all-star calibre catcher, traded for basically nothing.

Pretty disappointing to not see any moves to solidify this team for the race. 20 years with no playoffs and we finally hold down a spot and have a legit chance to win the division. All the teams in competition with the Jays are making moves and we are standing pat with a VERY weak lineup. They've caught fire in the last two weeks but that likely won't continue. Have to now bank on the injured guys coming back and contributing.
They are playing with fire by not going for it. It's going to be a pretty big black eye now if they don't make the playoffs. That's going to leave a bad taste for a lot of folks.

M#######s won't trade any pitchers to Jays. Which other team is trading pitchers? Plus, as has been discussed, many position players are afraid of the turf. And the Jays already have 2 decent DHs on the shelf right now!
It's disappointing we couldn't add another arm, but maybe if Morrow can work out of the pen in September things will be alright?

All very true. The Jays basically lose their manager to a division rival and then lose a great young catcher and a second basemen and a reliever with literally nothing to show for it. That's bad asset management.

Next season Boston and NY are gonna load up...this was the Jays one chance and they cheap out. They are basically a farm club and will never compete with the big boys.
Rogers can EAD they are bean counters and don't know anything about sports

I am not sure this was about the money. In the offseason when they refused to spend on term/$$ it was about the money.
IMO the lack of moves at the trade deadline had to do with Stroman and Sanchez both impressing in the majors which made them the asking price for every other team, and something the Jays refused to move.
AA is to blame here since he couldn't make a deal for the other pieces they had and didn't want to move any prospects, I don't put this one on Rogers (however they do get blamed because their cheapness in the offseason is the reason we still lack pitching now).

its hard to be a GM with handcuffs on especially in their division...they are now doomed to fail, AA will be fired and next year they will be destroyed after their competitors load up. This year is their chance, trust me

I don't really follow the MLB trade deadline much, is there anything significant I need to know at what the Jays are trying/willing/may be trying to do?

There seem to be some trades still trickling in. Kind of what I expected. No
major splashes and a depth pick up. Still no additional help in terms of relievers or starting pitchers. AA does seem to have his hands tied in terms of the payroll parameters set out by Rogers. I don't envy his position as I think he really is working with one arm tied behind his back. However if he misses the playoffs again this season after being in charge for 4 seasons I am not sure how many more opportunities he deserves. Every other team in the division has made the playoffs while he has been in charge of the Jays. There is no excuse.

Well... if I'm being frank I don't care about the manager (Farrell wasn't/isn't a good manager). I'll take Gibby over Farrell anyday.
