I made it 3 minutes in. Did I mess anything in the remaining 27:43?

Are they ripping off Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee there? Because it sure seems like it. Although, Rob Ford crammed into a Ferrari is pretty funny on its own.

I guess Ford was able to get rid of one of the thorns in his side by getting rid of Police Chief Bill Blair.

I'll laugh my arse off if he manages to win again. Jimmy Kimmel must have a permanent grin on his face.

Don’t call it a comeback yet, but Mayor Rob Ford is on the rise in a new poll on the Toronto mayoral race, closely trailing John Tory as once frontrunner Olivia Chow continues to bleed support.

While most observers have pontificated on the campaign as a two-horse race between Chow and Tory, with Ford on the outside with a solid but underwhelming minority, the mayor’s polling gains since his return from rehab is sure to turn heads.

In the latest Forum Poll, an automated phone survey conducted Monday and Tuesday of 1,945 Torontonians, Tory leads with 34% support, followed by Ford at 31% and Chow at 23%.

Ford’s support was strongest with people ages 18 to 34 (37%), people with a high school education or less (43%) and those living in Scarborough (40%).
But he's not my mayor so I sure hope he wins. I mean this guy was a debacle when he felt invincible, imagine what he'd be if he was actually invincible.

Rossi told the board that Ford confronted Royiwsky, called him a "#####" and threatened to beat him up.

"He kept repeating, 'I will kick your ass, F you, you're a #####.' I run this program not you," according to one document.

In another incident outlined in the documents, Ford reportedly had his players "roll in goose scat" and called them "c--ksuckers" after he was unhappy with their efforts in a game.

He repeatedly disregarded requests for mandatory criminal record checks for himself and his coaching staff. Eventually, Ford did submit to a record check, which he passed, according to the documents.

Reneged on the $5,000 promise for football helmets. The school ordered the helmets, but Ford refused to pay. The school board ended up covering the bill.

Used his high-school players as a "human shield" so he could leave the field without having to speak to reporters.

Showed up "inebriated" and "incoherent" at the final practice before the Metro Bowl, the city's high school championship game.

See I don't get this thinking. A strong mayor in Toronto is good not only for Toronto, but Canada. Yeah, we like to make fun of T.O., and I'm no exception. But for me, this particular issue just goes past that. It's flat out embarrassing. It makes the whole country look like hicks. Funny that it's coming out of Ontario and not Alberta, but all the same. :/

Yeah, this is what it comes down to for me, although less-so for the embarrassment factor. Urban issues are important and, to a certain extent, undervalued in this country, and a strong, effective advocate for urban issues in the largest metropolis in Canada is good not only for Toronto but for other cities as well.

Agreed, that's why I listed it first, even if I spent more time on the embarrassment part. I guess the second is a small part of the first in my thinking. Cause the longer that circus is running in Toronto, the longer they won't be able to get down to business. At this point I wonder even if Rob could even be a mayor where controversy won't follow him around. Even if he had a 12 month period where he did nothing wrong, (which I don't think could happen) people are going to be after him.

That's why if he was serious about being a good candidate and making a difference as he always says, he woulda taken some time off. Come back for a different election, or a different position. Right or wrong, he's just a spectacle now. And it's ego that's driving him. Well, ego has always been driving him I think, it's just so very apparent now.

But yeah, fundamentally, Calgary will be better served by a strong Toronto, not one that is easy to make fun of.

Rex Murphy - the country's best journalist not named Mansbridge - with an article why Ford in climbing in the polls.

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/...still-matters/

Essentially it's because the arrogance of the Anti-Fords is bothering "normal" people more than Ford's antics.

Same thing happened with Bush. Kinda crested when Michael Moore made his movie and unfortunate speech at the Oscars, and then goaded the crowd into defending Bush. Which is weird, cause I don't think anyone would call the Oscars a bastion for the 'common man'.

Here's the problem I have with all of that. While I do agree it is true, and it is unfortunately how a lot of people on the right see the situation, it is a horribly skewed position and factually incorrect.

If a defender of the right gets behind god and guns, they are a common man. They may not have the most up to date ideals, and we may even say, I don't entirely agree with you. But gosh darn it, your a salt of the earth type guy and you have a right to make an argument even if it makes no sense.

Yet if a person on the left gets behind health care and and social responsibility, they're elitist. Which is fine if you agree I guess, but those same people, who are very common man, just want to feed their family and pursue the dream, don't get the same benefit of the doubt if you disagree with them. They're elitist, and not with 'the common man'.

It's a double standard at it's finest. And the worst part is, if the have the intelligence to properly defend their position, it only gets worse. Then they are really elitist. How dare they use such fancy words and good reasoning?! Don't the realize that sort of thing doesn't matter to the common man who just wants to feed their family? That the common men are only interested in the simple things, not all your fancy learning.

And the worst part of it is the fact that...

Ford isn't the common man.

It's just a label he's been able to drape himself with successfully. The exact same trick Bush pulled.

Both Ford and Bush came from families of wealth and privilege. Their cowboy and common man persona's are just that. Persona's.

In fact, Obama is far more common man than Bush ever was. He came from poverty and lifted himself up. Yet the right slaps the elitist tag on him. Now why is that?

The whole 'common man' argument is just simple word play that the right has used for years very successfully to frame arguments. It doesn't hold up to logic or history or facts.

I too generally like Rex, but I can't get behind that article. I guess I can get behind it's sentiment, as I already said. Yes, that is how it's playing out. But only because the whole argument has been framed incorrectly for many years. Those crying out against Ford's bad behavior aren't elitist or arrogant, or any more or less normal than those that are not. They simply have different priorities for their leaders.

Rob Ford is a perfect example of why the mega city model doesn't work. He is out of touch with urban issues like public transit, homelessness, poverty and crime. But because of vote splitting, he can easily defeat people from inner city neighbourhoods.
