Sony didn't really have a chance to give that choice to them or their consumers as this is an exclusive deal that EA and Microsoft made before the launch of the Xbox One.
They just didn't have enough of a library to launch it right away.
EA offered it to both Sony and Microsoft, and Sony turned it down.
The key piece of missing information is how long it will take for a new game to hit all access list. If it's 6 - 9 months then people will be all over this.
I would bet it would be a month before the new one comes out. With non annual games I would guess a year tops, maybe 9 months after... of course it could be sooner.
Given that this is an Xbox exclusive thing it could be sooner, they could get the new games a month after release.
Sony customers are still going to have to buy the game. And non subscribers to EA all access as well. So they are still going to be selling product.
Personally I'd be shocked if at some point they didn't start offering new games on the release date at some point in time during the service's life cycle.

Just to clarify, are you suggesting that EA will make brand new AAA titles available to subscribers on their general release day? So I pay $30 per year and get NHL 15 and FIFA 15 in September?

I'm not saying that it WILL happen. I'm just saying that if it did, it wouldn't shock me. Whether it does or doesn't makes no difference. I'm just saying that whatever happens, happens... And I'm not going to be blown away either way. That's all.
I should have phrased that statement a little better... my bad

I think that is the big misconception here, not saying it is without value and honestly I will consider the service...but not for year old sports games
When there is a massive catalog PS+ will be giving away AAA high end games on PS4 too, go look at the PS3 and what they have given out over the past few years
is anyone planning on playing madden 15 with an online connected career? maybe we could set up a CP league? dibs on the browns! scratch that. maybe anyone but cleveland.
Care to elaborate on that? Both offer two free games and discounts each month.
I have downloaded every free PS+ game so far on PS4, havent really played any of them though. Same for X1.
IMO and I'm sure many others Sony has offered way better games than Microsoft has. I subscribed the day it started. So far Games For Gold still hasn't made me interested in subscribing. And I'm neutral to both companies so this is an unbiased opinion.

In the spirit of the THUNDERDOME as PsYcNeT likes to say, here is the Jimquisition's take on the Xbone 180's so far.
Perhaps it's a bit much but you have to feel sorry for developers like Harmonix. It was pretty clear they had no idea even as Microsoft threw them under the bus. Nobody even bothered to turn on the screen or support their game at Comic-Con; they just abandoned it and roped it off for heaven's sake.
I can't believe I actually sat through that, and then took the time to respond..but here goes.
I don't know what this guy is expecting an apology for unless he bought one and it blew his house up. Bottom line is they make a product, if it does what you want it to, you buy it. If it doesn't, you don't buy it. Simple. It's a machine, not a girlfriend who's been cheating on you.
In the case of the Xbox One, they changed their entire concept with drm BEFORE launch, so its not like you bought one expecting one thing and then they pulled the rug out from under you. As for the kinect SKU, they responded to market demands for a cheaper option without the camera. Anyone who bought it prior to that does get more functionality for their additional $100. Just because this loudmouth says it doesn't work, doesn't make it so. I haven't had the kinect interfere with a gaming session at all, not once. Maybe his immature rambling made the kinect turn on him.
Microsoft has actually responded very rapidly to the market's criticism of its product, which is unheard of for a company of their size. Its been what, 9 months since launch? Whether he wants to praise them or not is irrelevant, the fact is they've been working to provide more value to their current and prospective customers. Does it do what you want it to do? That's the only question that matters. MS may have made mistakes initially reading the market but harbouring some weird emotional resentment towards a product is unhealthy. And at the rate MS is going with updates and a renewed focus , the system seems like its going to be a solid system.
I get that "gamers" are passionate fans, but there is a really immature sense of entitlement amongst many of them.

Hard to drag the PS4 into the conversation when it'll still take a couple years to build the kind of catalog that the PS3 has available to be given out freely on PS+. Even something like Killzone/Knack which has been available for $20 in North America has yet to show up on PS+.

It's been a common theme for a lot of users to buy every second edition of EA sports games because of the lack of significant development. How is getting last year's edition all that terrible? If online play is big to you, then I guess that's a fair comment to make that you don't want to pay $30 for multiple titles.

Well there won't be an NHL game for at least a year, NBA live is an absolute joke of a game, Madden and Fifa are just okay but launch titles the new versions should be major upgrades.
I might be worth while eventually but right now I don't think so...and your first point is exactly what I was saying...over time PS+ will be giving quality on the PS4 like they have on the PS3 which has been nothing short of amazing
More than 3:1 sales now. The gap is continuing to increase even before games like the Last of Us and Destiny (with their Sony partnership, exclusive content for the game). MCC should blunt that a bit but Microsoft probably needs to cut Xbone prices again and soon.
I believe that the Sony number is sold to actual customers while the Microsoft is just "sold" into stores as stock.
Sony has released its financial report for the first quarter of the year from April to June 30, revealing games revenue has risen 95.7 percent year-on-year. Though Sony doesn't reveal how many PS4 and PS3 consoles were sold separately, the report confirms combined sales to the consumer of 3.5 million units in the first quarter of the year
Microsoft's financial report for the same period was announced last week, revealing combined shipping figures for Xbox One and Xbox 360 sit at 1.1million, meaning for the first three months of this financial year the PlayStation brand outsold Xbox 3:1
Some more perspective from the crazy Neogaf/Vgchartz guys.
PS3 and PS4 sales are more than double of the other home consoles combined - 360, Xbone, Wii and Wii U.
PS4 sales alone are more than the all the 360, Xbone, Wii, Wii U and 3DS all combined.
So the snowball is really starting to roll at this point. For comparison, the PS4 was selling even better than the PS2 at the same point in it's life cycle.
Though there still aren't any huge games out for it. Winter should be good for that though.

Fair enough.

Well said, I am actually pretty impressed with MS and how quickly they have been updating the console and adding features.
Regarding the sales stuff, is the he Xbox one not selling better than the 360 was at this time in its life? PS4 is obviously selling more but I don't think the One is selling 'badly' per say. Either way we are not even a year into these new consoles. Sony turned it around last gen after a pretty bad start.
On a related note GAF gaming side has become unbearable lately. What a #### fest of fanboys, morons and console warriors. I stick to NHL and Android GAF mostly.
If you are in the preview updates for Xbox one 3D blu ray is working now. App was updated yesterday. It was stuttery when I tried it though. There was another update today apparently so I will try it again. The 3D on the PS4 was much better, so hopefully they keep improving it. Its only available to people on the preview program at the moment.

Both systems finally got 3D eh?
I still have no idea why this wasn't included at launch.
