Another big move out of Philadelphia. Team Captain Ryan Getzlaf has been traded. The much sought after youngster is heading to Florida along with recently acquired defenceman Tom Preissing and a wad of cash. In exchange the Flyers pick up all-star winger Keith Tkachuk.
Getzlaf who was just named the team’s captain was sad to hear the news and couldn’t hold the tears back when the media approached him. “I was told I was going to be a legend and that I was untouchable. I’m really disappointed to be leaving Philadelphia. If I ever see that jerk Noops again, I will spit in his face and kick the crap out of him.”
GM Noops made the following comment after hearing of Getzlaf’s comments: “It’s a business, I can’t afford to be emotionally attached to anyone on my team. I have to look out for what’s the best for my team. This deal gives us a second bonafide scorer. Getzy better get used to the business side of this game, especially in Florida.”
Now Keith Tkachuk is in the Flyers lineup, they are looking a lot better up front. However after trading away Priessing and also Steve Staios earlier in the week, their defense looks a bit weak. Noops made it clear that they are still looking out for another top six forward and another solid defenseman.”
