they have signed 4 players within 24 hours or so (Jacob Mellis, Tomasz Cywka, Peter Clarke and Nathan Delfouneso), so I believe they sit at 12 as of today ... still no goalkeeper though.
The Southampton saga is getting ugly ... Krueger has now said that they have decided that they won't sell Schneiderlin and Rodriguez to Tottenham, which certainly didn't please Schneiderlin:
Morgan Schneiderlin ✔ @SchneiderlinMo4
6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour !!!
this must be brutal for their fans. Lallana and Lovren both already left on very bad terms and now Schneiderlin is pissed because he can't force a transfer like they did. Cinderella story turned into a horror flick fast.

wait ... so an Oiler alum is destroying another franchise ... in another sport, on a whole other continent?
This is getting out of hand.

Normally I would prefer players to stay quiet but I can't really blame Schneiderlin here
according to their fans he's been their best player the last 3 seasons, and now they are saying he can't leave after gutting the team
if he wants to stay in the French national team he can't be fighting relegation

Liverpool have completed the signing of Belgium international striker Divock Origi from Lille. He will be loaned straight back to the Ligue 1 club for this season.

yeah I don't blame Schneiderlin here. Southampton knew that Shaw and Lallana were hot commodities and that they probably couldn't hold on to them, but selling Lambert, Lovren and Chambers too has opened the floodgates. And now they are refusing to let Schneiderlin and Rodriguez go despite their public "players who don't want to be here should go" stance ... I'd be pissed too.
At this point, they probably should sell them all and build a new squad. Too many bridges burnt.

That is actually amazing to me...
Does he have any background in soccer? Does he have any qualifications to even do that sort of job in hockey, let alone an entirely different sport!?

You mean, check qualifications for a coach to a hockey club, with the worst 3 years in the NHL's 100 year history?
English news sites, cite Mr. Krueger's motivational speaking. That MUST mean something.

fitting that this happens in a country which desecrates this fine sport by calling it "soccer".

"I coached a club that had a dynasty and was the starting place for the greatest player to ever play the sport of ice hockey."
Just don't check dates and you're in!

it seems like Lukaku is indeed joining Everton for 25m. Terrific signing for them.

Seems odd that a couple CL teams haven't taken an interest in him at that price. There must be something scaring teams away.

Odd indeed, as Everton would seem to know more about him than any other team in the prem. I suppose, Everton may be the strongest team interested?
United has their forwards sorted. As does City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
And Tottenham, has Soldado.

Not just the Americans who can screw it up. MUTV with the lineup from last night's game.

Not happy with Chelsea selling off Lukaku - sure getting the funds helps with the whole financial fair play rules, but making a profit of 5-7M on a young player to then shell out $30M for an established player is not going to work long term. talent needs to be developed and then bolstered by the big signings. Last time Chelsea let a guy leave who was starting to score for other EPL teams on loan, he went to Liverpool and started scoring for fun.
