From what I read likes to battle along the boards and plays a "power forward" type game. Projected 1st rounder. Was the 1st overall pick in the QMJHL 2013 draft.

Sounds like the type of player Burke likes. Don't think he is a lock for the top 10 in 2015 yet, but he should be a first round pick if something drastic doesn't happen.
Do not want.

But I hold grudges.

Also with the US Development Program I wouldn't worry about their drive, character or compete level. Their program is first class.

Hockeyprospect gives an overview on 3 RWs to watch for at the 2015 draft:

Nikita Korostelev, Timo Meier, Nicolas Roy

Thanks for this, sureLoss! Another RW to watch is Charlottetown's Daniel Sprong.

Another great article on Eichel. Looks at his hockey career thus far:

http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/ho...chel-focused-p

Quote:
The hype surrounding his mini-rivalry with Ontario's Connor McDavid -- his competition for next year's top pick -- is well on its way to Taylor Hall vs. Tyler Seguin levels. Some are saying they'll be the best 1-2 since Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin back in 2004.

"I don't really consider it a one-on-one rivalry," Eichel said. "People are always talking, but you really can't think about stuff like that. Guys will pass you if you stop working and think about stuff like that. You have to block the media out and just focus on what you have to do."

He's been called "the best U.S.-born center prospect since Mike Modano," a Hall of Famer and the highest-scoring American in NHL history. Due to his combination of speed, strength, size (he's 6-foot-1), vision and a quick release, he's been compared to Ryan Getzlaf and Jeff Carter, a pair of NHL All-Stars.

"Those are NHL All-Stars and Hall of Famers. I'm a freshman at Boston University right now. I have a long way to go before I can ever be compared to players like that," Eichel said.

It would be easy for Eichel to lose sight of where he is now and get caught looking ahead. Obviously getting drafted is a dream of his, and possibly going No. 1 only adds to the excitement. But Eichel has learned that the best way to get where he wants to go is by focusing on the present, not dwelling on the future.

Eichel wasn't only better than McDavid at the WJ's, he absolutely blew him out of the water

In fairness to McDavid, he got very little ice time.

Just was thinking about if the Flames really got the 1st OA (likely not going to happen), but would you pick McDavid or Eichel? Personally, I'd rather pick Eichel. He can play center, but also can play RW as well.

Draftsite says this about him:

Quote:
The US born centre may not be as good as the top guy but he sure looks like a player in his own right. He is a quick off the face-off circle skater who can jump onto defender can get pucks before they know it. A power player who could also project to wing, because he has tremendous jump, balance and punch when he engages. Beyond dangerous with the puck. Finds himself the open spaces. Can enter and exit the face-off circle with the the puck and ramp to high gear and let it go as quick as the best. Reads situations and can go ened to end like the 200 foot player he is. Plays centre and is very good there, but his quick release and wall work might have teams projecting him as a attack winger too. He was selected to the roster for the World Junior Under-18 Tournament in April.
Already committed to Boston University.
I feel like the hype for McDavid is a bit much. I don't think he's necessarily a comparable to Crosby's caliber, but rather one like John Tavares.

I'm sorry, but I have to say something about this.

Stamkos and Doughty > Malkin and Ovechkin

I disagree. The Russians are way better and are more proven as of yet. Maybe in a few years we can reflect on that, but I'd rather have Malkin and Ovechkin than Stamkos and Doughty.

I view Stamkos and Ovy as being more or less equivalent, some might prefer Ovy, others Stamkos, but they are both at least in the same conversation. Malkin though I'd take over Doughty easily and I like Doughty.

Stamkos is WAY better than Ovechkin and it's not even close. A few years ago this was a legit discussion, but Ovechkin isn't the same player he once was. He just looks disinterested whenever I see him play (unless he's out on the powerplay).

It's harder to compare Malkin and Doughty. I'll give this one a tie, both elite and among the best of their position.

Overall, I have to give the edge to the 2008 1st and 2nd picks.

Malkin

Stamkos
Ovechkin

Doughty

Rather go with the 2004's.

You are either severely underrating Doughty or overrating Ovechkin. Did you watch him play this year? He scored a lot of PP goals but didn't really do anything else that was useful to his team.

I am not underrating Doughty. He's still got plenty of years on him, and I guarantee he'll continue his trend as a top 3 defenseman. For Ovechkin, I think you're underrating him. Sure he could be a little lazy in his own end, but you can't teach the scoring touch that he has. I am going by players who have proven themselves, and Ovechkin has scored a 1.2 PPG thus far in his career.

Where has Ovechkin ever led the Caps? Doughty is a proven winner with Stanley Cups and Olympic gold medals.

One dimensional scorers are not as valuable as you think.

I definitely take Doughty over Ovechkin. I take all 3 of those players over Ove. Without hesistation.

It may not be the most accurate but I always like this site as it gives an opinion of where they think players will be drafted and where teams will finish.

http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/

I really wouldn't have a problem picking Hanafin at #3....
