Rio Ferdinand has revealed he'd have stayed at Man Utd for the rest of his career, if Louis van Gaal had wanted him - details on #SSN

then he should have retired alongsise Giggs this summer. The writing was on the wall last season, Rio simply isn't good enough any more.

Kudos to Arry though - buying Caulker was a good move. I fully expected Arry to sign Lescott alongside Rio and have the slowest CB duo in PL history.

Agree he's not first choice anymore, but with this new 3-5-2 LVG employs United are short on cb's... (And rich in wingers)

Simon Peach @SimonPeach ·
I am told Schneiderlin & Rodriguez are close to linking up with former #SaintsFC boss Pochettino at #THFC. It never rains but it pours.

Press Association Sport understands Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Schneiderlin and Rodriguez, with the pair edging closer to deals taking them to White Hart Lane.

Koeman will have no squad left once the season starts. Clyne, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Ramirez and Wanyama are about the only useful players left from last year and they have only brought in two players so far (Pelle and Tadic) ...

Time for Arsene to complete the often proclaimed but rarely executed transfer swoop. #SwoopForSchneiderlin

Going to watch Crystal Palace play our Richmond Kickers. I'm not much of a soccer follower, but have been trying to pay more attention lately as my kids are both pretty big into playing. Any primer on who to watch, etc, would be appreciated. Is Jedinak their biggest star? I wonder if they'll play their starters in a game like this?

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC
Southampton and Ronald Koeman are of the belief that players who want to leave, should go. An admirable policy, but a risky one

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC
My understanding is that Jay Rodriguez has already agreed terms with Spurs after the clubs met in Toronto last week

Jedinak plays the kind of game that doesn't grab headlines - he is the engine of that team, and the Australian national team as well. Puncheon has looked good for Palace, he might be worth keeping an eye on.

Has a team ever lost their entire starting 11 from a previous season before?

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC
@SiClancy I know of one Premier League club that have a strong interest in Clyne

this is getting ridiculous. But on a completely selfish sidenote, I hope it's United ... young player who could cover both full back sides.

Clearly no-one can afford the best midfielder in England

And then this year, provided he stays, Ward-Prowse is the latest graduate of that youth academy in Southampton destined for big things. Their record for producing/nurturing young talent in recent years is unmatched. Look back to Bale and Walcott as well. EDIT: and Oxlade-Chamberlain too

the best part is that the original tweet from Koeman was real, he either has a really good sense of humor or he didn't realize what he was doing

Mourinho vs Van Gaal.

Jose said he didn't pursue Shaw as his wage demands would've destroyed their club salary structure.
http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/28498546

LVG said he'll talk to Jose in private.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/...r-jibe/184655/

Then today, Shaw practiced alone, over fitness concerns.

Blackpool doesn't even have 11 players at the moment.
