Kulak then Arnold. Sieloff isn't even in the picture right now as far as I'm concerned. He needs to s&w he can perform at the professional level before I rate him above anyone else. Big year for him. The key is to stay healthy, which he has been unable to do so far in hockey career.

Went with Hunter Smith. Not that familiar with him but from reports he has the bigger upside of anyone left. Thought about going with Arnold but with the remaining forwards it seems to be a case of 3rd line with maybe 2nd potential. I'm hoping with the potential depth at forward it's the top line guys bring forced down and not lesser players forced up.

Smith is an interesting prospect, huge with seemingly a good scoring touch. The fact he's a draft reentry seemed to have some posters brush him off completely, but he was days away from 2014 being his draft, and some guys just develop on different lines.

So hard to say at this point.

Last year, I really liked Seiloff, but after using a full year of development, I am worried about him.

I really like Arnold. I think he is going to be like a Nilson/Yelle type of player.

I have a good feeling about McDonald.

Kanzig is just so intriguing that I had to go with him.

This is where the voting becomes tough because I don't really see them as a ranked list at this point so much as various groups of roughly equivalent guys.

To me, Sieloff, Ferland, Arnold, Knight and Agostino are all guys that have a decent chance of carving out a good NHL career. None of them stand out as more likely, it just comes down to who can take the next step.

Since I have to rank them and pick one, I have Sieloff first.

I went with Kulak this round. I think it is a bit of a reach saying he has top-pairing potential, but it wouldn't be totally crazy (just a bit crazy). I do think he has the potential to become a solid top 4 defender, and a good on the PP. Great skater, great at carrying the puck, great on the point, great first pass, and most importantly very good defensively (always important when your defencemen actually play defence, no?). He has also spent a few years on a lousy team being played in all situations that he probably wouldn't have seen if he was on a stacked team, and was counted on for leadership. This kid has been developing very nicely.

Ferland and Arnold were right behind, or even ahead of Kulak.

Ferland can be that presence on any line that can keep up in terms of play ability. He has great finishing ability, he is great in the corners and can dig the puck out for his linemates, he can pass well, and he will knock someone's block off if they decide to get too rough with someone on the team. That is a very, very good combination to have. I am betting had he been healthy this past season, he might have gone in the top 10 somewhere.

Arnold is a guy that you can also throw onto any line. Gaudreau is sublimely skilled, and Arnold was a great linemate for him. I do think he fits in more as a 3rd line center or winger in the future, he is a guy that will give a line stability. Great 200ft game, big body (not too tall, but thick and strong as an ox), great in the corners, and very good defensively. You have to remember Gaudreau capitalized on many chances by having a very smart Arnold breaking up the other teams' attacks and getting the puck out to him. Great character from all reports as well (though this sounds a bit like a broken record really, as this organization seems to really focus on drafting character).

I went Ferland, he's improving really fast and if he keeps the pace he will be a great 2-3rd liner.

Went with Hickey,

My two overriding thoughts have been does a prospect have top 4D / top 6F potential.

Would I trade for a guy below on the list.

I think we are out of those types of players on this list that we have info on so for me it time for this years 2nd and 3rd round picks.

So Hickey and Macdonald are next. Smith might drop below as many project him as 3rd line upside.

Tough not to pick Arnold and Ferland here. But I don't think we get a second round pick for those guys at this point in time.

Went Arnold, seems to have a high two-way IQ, fast, adaptable, and could switch to right wing - makes me think he could open a space in the event of a RW injury.

After this it's Ferland, seiloff, kulak for me
Crazy we have so many prospects with high potential!

But we clearly don't get a 2nd for Hickey either since he just went in the 3rd.

In past years you could look at the list and think "do I have to pick any of these guys"; now you feel you are slighting very good prospect by picking someone else. This is a position that's great to be in!

I would have joined you with Smith as I considered him when I checked off Knight but I just don't know enough about the guys picked after Bennett to pick them here even though I like what I have read about him.

Went with Ferland because he is every bit as tough as guys like Sieloff, Smith, and Kanzig but has shown way more in terms of being a good hockey player

After Ferland I am going with Kulak for the skating and puck moving ability

This is where the voting is going to go all over the place. I voted Sieloff, but could have made a case for a handful of other players too. If Sieloff wins, my next vote will be one of Arnold, Smith, Ferland or Kulak.

Ferland because he had 17 points in his last 12 games before injury. Hope he can continue that pace and the chemistry he was building with Granlund. Add Gaudreau to that line and you could see real fireworks.

For me it's Arnold then Ferland and Sieloff. Both Ferland and Sieloff have concerns about how fast they'll recover from long-term injuries but Ferland was performing well at the AHL level before he got hurt and Sieloff hasn't gotten there yet. Of course at this point there aren't any real obvious choices left and everybody has some issues (which is why they're not top 10).

I'm awaree of that. Although 4th pick in the 3rd round is the same as say Chicago or LA's 2nd.

The going price for good but not great college free agents last year was a 4th rnd pick. Knight for example. So I still see Arnold as around that value.
