I don't really want to extend him right now. Hopefully, management feels that they should wait it out and see how he plays without Cammalleri in the lineup (prior to the trade deadline). Imo, he only has a couple more years left with decent value.

Since the Flames have cap to burn, sign Glencross for short term but more money and no NTC/NMC...that should offset itself..ex: 2 years x $5M

Its not weird. Its justified. Over the course of 2006-2011 we went from the toughest to easiest team night in night out to play against. Its nothing personal, but he is exactly the type of player that makes the other teams night easy. We went from none of those type of players, to lots of them.

I just got back from holidays and was sad to see this thread. I agree the Flames need to turn the page on this type of player. Glencross's disinterest was apparent more nights than not. People wonder why others have such a hate on for Glencross. My question is what has he done (other than being a cowboy who lives in the area) lately to warranty an extension. At most give him one more year at his current rate. If not then ship him out at the deadline.

I find the negative sentiment towards this strange. If Glencross was a UFA that finished with someone else there would be 6 threads about wanting to sign him.
25-30 goal scorer, good teammate, competitive, hits...

121 goals in 436 NHL games for the better part of 8 seasons does not back this up.

I could see if he was a point per game player but he's not. Injury prone too isn't helping his stock with Some on this board...myself included. He disappears for stretches then is on fire for 4 games then disappears again. Too inconsistent for my liking.

The criteria is a PPG player??? How many of those players were there last season?

4 years ago being the key to that sentence.

Curtis Glencross's PPG by season as a Flame:
08-09: 0.54
09-10: 0.49
10-11: 0.54
11-12: 0.72
12-13: 0.65
13-14: 0.63
Those are great numbers, especially at his $2.55M salary. I for one hope we extend him on a multiple year deal. You can't go full Oiler and dump every veteran and by all accounts Curtis has become a great team leader.

Who cares about points per game when your missing time every year. It's great production for his contract and we can live with the injuries because of his contract. If he's making 5 million a season it's gonna be a way different story. Going full Oiler? Can people actually think for themselves around here. Dumping any veteran automatically means were gonna be like the Oilers? Maybe it's just the smart hockey decision. Let's worry about our team and stop trying to act like management makes any decision based on the Oilers.

I agree with the inconsistency, but no one should be expecting Glencross of all people to be a PPG player. It's rare to see even top players these days produce at PPG pace.
Being consistent doesn't necessarily equate to being a PPG player.
Those two things don't have to be associated with one another.

Last season was the first time he missed a significant amount of time (44 games). Otherwise, he's missed 8, 15, 3 ,15, 8 games since 2008. Not Mr. Iron Man but hardly a huge concern for long-term injuries even at his age.
