Malaysia Airlines flight crashes in Ukraine

Well I have witnessed a video of people trudging through the crash site. A truly horrific scene, and normally I am relatively unaffected.

I have heard the bodies were stripped of any items of value.

Basically zero chance of the proper authorities reaching the crash site, and having it remain undisturbed.

I might be wrong, but I don't believe the Netherlands has much pull in the EU.

Just like to say good job to Lanny and Obama's white knights for driving away a solid contributor from the NL. He was clearly upset by the events and didn't appreciate people making light of the situation.

That I wouldn't know, but I would imagine after such a horrific act that the sentiment will be with them. I just don't want to think that those responsible will get away with this.

Hopefully he can come back and continue to provide information for us now that the feces throwing has died down a bit.

CNN must be wringing their hands in excitement at all of this, they probably can't believe that they can beat the MH370 story into the ground some more in conjunction with this tragedy.

This thread is crazy.

It's unfathomable that this would happen in today's day and age. Like another poster said, I can tell what plane it is, where it's coming from, where it's going and it's course from my phone.

There's a lot of pieces that don't look good for Russia right now. However, if There is a terrorist organization and wanted further unrest in the region this is exactly the sort of thing that would be ideal. Create further civil unrest while everyone thinks it's someone else.

We need to wait until the facts are out.

Much if what lanny9 has been saying is ridiculous (sorry lanny9 it's true). However, something he's been saying since his first post makes a lot of sense. The CIA and US military likely have a lot more information than we do. Now lanny9 is assuming that this information proves exactly what he thinks, but perhaps it doesn't. Perhaps the cause or culprits are people we haven't thought of or are not aware exist. Perhaps it's exactly what he thinks and the US is being strategic by being passive, to have a better tactical advantage in the coming hours/days? It's also a big coinsidence that MH17 crashed on the 17th.

Regardless, we don't have any proof of what happened. Nothing that we can say beyond a reasonable doubt it was X.

Let's take a breath. Focus on the families and nations in mourning, and see if we can't figure out away to prevent this from ever happening again.

May MH17 and it's passengers and crew rest in peace.

Trust me when I say I was not making light of this situation, I am very much upset by the days events. I feel horrible for those who have lost loved ones.

I just do not understand why we have to attack anyone who has a different view than the next guy, I see it happen on these boards all the time and find it quite childish. I personally felt attacked and tried to backup my opinion. I mean can we not have serious dialogue on these boards without the attacks? I accept that I am probably much older than many on the boards and as such will have a more conservative opinion(comes with age), I too had a more liberal view(still conservative though ) when I was young, but I never attacked anyone for having a different view.

Is it being July 17th and MH17 a big coincidence? I don't really know. It does make me wonder (again) what the heck happened to Mh370 to disappear without a trace. What are the chances this is the second accidental (or non accidental) missile strike of a Malaysian airlines passenger jet?!?

In any case, it's really quite horrifying and unbelievable news.

-Questioning how a mistake like this can happen. IgiTang (military) explained how this launcher can tell the difference between a military target and a civilian one. Points to incredible ineptitude (non professionals) or wild conspiracy. Many details would have confirmed that this was not a military target if any competent boob was at the controls
-Leader of the separatist movement posted something on its Facebook page about "We warned you not to fly in our sky" right after the plane was shot down, then quickly removed it once they realized it was civilian.
-Supposed Ukrainian communication intercept between rebels and Russia discussing shooting down a plane, then realizing it wasn't military
