Not to make lite of the situation but if these were "volunteers" much like Navy reservists or "shads" we have in our military, perhaps theyre indiscretions arent so bad, alcohal abuse, assault, unbecoming... Atleast they arent taking our weapons and shooting at civilians..

But Bush's reaction had nothing to do with this discussion in the first place, you had an American president trying to gather his thoughts, knowing full well that he was on screen. I dragged his reaction into this based on how you were reacting to Obama. Same difference. People went nuts as to the reaction Bush had, like you were just a few hours ago, without knowing what was what and what was really going on.

Agreed. This is about an airliner being shot down. Now we're talking about Obama and a Bush and their performance. Who cares at this point. I'm interested in the impact on the future. If it's the separatists as it appears to be, what does this do their cause and the Russian backing? Not much immediately I'd guess, as the source of the conflict has not changed. The only thing that changed its the perception of the separatists morality.

I get it, but Bush one was making a statement, one wasn't. I just did not like how Obama handled this statement which made him look weak when the world's eyes were on him. That clip will be around the world by now and you don't want Putin thinking he can take further advantage of what is assumed to be a weak president. That is my main point here, Obama needs to straighten his back and show strength here.

Do I want him to throw firecracker right away, no but he could have said "if this was indeed shot down, those who are responsible will be held accountable." use a big man's voice, act a little angry, that goes a long ways, not only at home but across the globe.
