Liscano was one of my faves in the league. Just sang the song well and didn't worry about theatrics. Wish her all the best.

Yeah, until there's actually any confirmation that Heather isn't singing, I'm not going to assume this posting means she's done. Could be for other teams, vacation coverage, who knows what else.

I've often wondered what do national anthem singers get paid at sporting events? They sing one or two songs that last each around a minute. Is it free viewing of each game?

According to this, it ranges from free parking and dinner to $1,000 per game: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/...03550684663632
I wonder if you get less for a Hitmen or Roughneck game than a Flames game?

Does anyone know how many different Harvey's have been employed? I'm assuming a change occurred a few years ago because I noticed a character change in the way that Harvey acted and interacted with fans.

Flames would be better served having up and coming singers from the community volunteer to sing the anthems each night. But, that's coming from a guy who probably doesn't appreciated the anthem experience at the games unless we are talking playoffs or huge rival games, because I attempt to roll up to me seats right after the anthem and right before puck drop most nights.

I have heard the Flames are pretty cheap, you basically get free parking and the ability to hang around the dome for the rest of the night. (no seats)

No idea total, but I recall hearing they have at least 3 at any given time. He does lots of public stuff too, not just game nights, too much for one person to do. And I'd be willing to bet the guys that play Harvey do the Hitmen mascot too.

Good news to me. I found Heather to be to dull although a good singer. Good to see the Flames making all these changes outside of the roster even though some may be by sportsnet or others.
It's a good time to revitalize the overall game experience.

Way to take the extreme highest paid singer and apply it to the field

Sorry to offend. It was more of a comment on $42K being the high end not seeming worth it given I think it's something the team could get done for free (regardless of the actual cost) and turn it into a "community" type thing locally.
More a conversation starter than a passionate opinion on my part, but way to get passionate about it I guess. Good for you.

This. That guy leaves it all on the ice. Our next anthem singer can be less vocally polished, but exponentially higher on the passion scale.

Or Mark Donnelly from Vancouver? I think Donnelly is one of the best in the NHL.

The guy is corny as hell, but I love anthem singers that can whip the crowd into a frenzy. Liscano was a good singer, but seemed dull to me, almost robotic. I'd love to have one of those campy, over the top, tuxedo clad goofy guys. And I would love a lot more organ, and a lot less Cotton Eyed Joe too. Chicago and Montreal has that down to a science as well. Less metal (as much as I like metal) and more pipe organ.

I am with you on this. I have never been a fan of Liscano.. placing me firmly in the minority around here.
Either way I wish her luck if she is leaving.. I just want hockey back

Flames could get the girl who sang for the Canadians during the playoffs. The American anthem. I don't think she's their regular singer during the season cause she can't sing in french.
