Yes he looked really bad .... playing against the other team's top line and having Ben Street as his centre.

If you want to go over the game films 15 games Glencross played before he got hurt you would probably have Backlund playing in Europe this season.

If you pick any season of Iginla's first 15 games since 2006 you would conclude that he was out of gas and his career was over

Last year after 15 games Glencross had 5 goals and 9 pts..... Iginla playing with Krejci and Lucic had 3 goals and 9 points.

With rumours that Glencross would be unwilling to waive his NTC for virtually any team, you don't want to lose an asset for nothing.

I don't want another Cammalleri situation.

Ben Street was causing him to float?

well if he's not willing to play for any other team, the flames have him by the short and curly's. If he says he's only playing here or leaving then offer him the same contract he's on and see what he does. Do you think he sign with the oilers again? will he cave and go play somewhere else or will he take what we give him?

Treliving being as adamant as he is about term being the killer, I would be surprised if the deal was more than 4 years.

glenny was easily my favorite flame in the last few years of the dark ages since he actually gave a crap and skated hard out there

I don't know if it was the disinterested vets or what but he has had a very noticable decline in effort immediately after gio was named captain

My guess is this plays out similar to Cammy. Flames willing to give him $$ but only at 2 or 3 years. He can get the same money for more years on the open market and so will likely move on.

Let him walk if any more than 3 years at maybe 4M, prefer 3.75M. Don't care what the comparables are, some of those comparables aren't very good deals. I like Glencross but between his inconsistant play and his regular injuries I don't see him as a big part of this team going forward.

Really surprised how far fan opinion has fallen on Glencross.
What a difference 2 years makes.

I'm okay with Glencross getting extended but I would be weary of the money and term. He's somewhat injury prone and his play on the ice varies wildly at times from beast to indifferent to outright bad. That said when he's healthy he's going to get 20 goals and provide some grit and leadership. I have to assume if the Flames want to keep him in the fold he brings intangibles much like Stajan.

Almost like the team is in a completely different state of contention, and is placing value in a different set of assets...

It's not like Glencross has helped his case since then, either. Since the rebuild began he only seems to care about playing sometimes.

Just look at Burrows as an example of how the wheels can fall off.

I'd give him an NTC if he seriously reduces his cap hit, provided that in the NTC he must submit a list of 10 teams he'd willingly accept a trade to at the beginning of each season.

A gentleman's agreement that the team will keep him on the roster as long as he is showing that he wants to be there.

How did the Flames swindle him? Did Ken King take him out for a horseback ride with a contract and a shot gun?

He willingly signed the contract before the UFA period to get what was important to him. As far as I know the Flames have never asked him to waive his NTC.

Some of your posts just make me shake my head man.

If Glencross walks, who takes his off-ice leadership role?

I'd give him $4.5, and I'd give him an NMC but I'd only give him two years of that. And I'd prefer to wait until Christmas before I offered it. I want to see where he is. I might give him 3 years but no NMC in the last year.

He probably could get more on the open market but a team trying to rise with a promising prospect pool and players who will becoming off their ELCs cannot burden themselves with long-term contracts.

While his last contract was a bargain the team doesn't owe him an overpayment. Giving a 32+ year old with injury and consistency issues an NMC is paying that back

I don't care about dollars or term for Glencross providing he does not get a NMC. I would even be ok with a modified NTC where he can give a list of 10 teams but he has to be moveable. I don't see this being the case though, I think he would take less money but will certainly want term and a NMC which means that I hope that doesn't get done and we just ship him out at the deadline. Too many good young LW knocking on the door.

No way. The Flames in no way should make a NMC available in this contract, let him walk or trade him if that is the case.
