sprinkle cornmeal around the ant hill or wherever the infestation is. They eat it but can't digest it, so they die pretty fast. Cheap, effective and nature-friendly!

RGMG's that I'm still working at this same job with nothing to do...Worked from 8:00 this morning until now (almost 1:00) and actually did a 1/2 hour of work. Just sitting here at my desk. This is ridiculous.
I think the clock is moving backward...I really do.

Tip: Go for a stroll outside during lunch, it breaks up the day.

What's even funnier is I only get a 1/2 hour for lunch and they are pretty strict about it. Not much time to eat and go for a walk.
FML...
I'm looking for another gig now, but it's hard while you are working. I can't be "sick" that often for interviews and I simply can't get away during the day for them either. I might just have to take the plunge here soon...

It might be dangerous for me to admit this, but I have been chronically under-employed for most of the past 7 years (which I've spent with the same employer). Quite honestly, it sucks because the days just drag on and I feel so incredibly unproductive while my mind just wastes away. And it isn't like I'm not getting paid good money to sit in an office and do nothing--if I were getting paid a lot less, it would be easier to just walk away, but as it is, it just seems foolish to do so, even though I feel like every moment I'm here I'm shortening my life expectancy by two.
I was under-employed in my first real job after college as well, but I didn't really know any better, but it does make me wonder if not having enough work to fill the day is "normal."

Well, that's the thing. I know I could earn more and be much more productive elsewhere. My job is not my life, but I want to go home at night and feel like I've accomplished something. I'm not even close to doing that. My boss just doesn't seem to get it either. I think I'm pretty close to my breaking point, but it's hard because I can't go without a pay cheque either.

At this point, have you just flat out asked why your boss hired you or what he is expecting you to do? Does he even care that you aren't doing anything?

It's really difficult to find a job with a balance. Having nothing to do is far better than having a completely overwhelming amount to do, constantly stressed and working way too many hours with an overbearing boss breathing down your neck.

Memo to Calgary drivers; Make sure to continue to follow these steps in this order when turning left...
Step 1: Slow down to a crawl and begin turn
Step 2: Put on turn signal

I'd generally take a late turn signal over an absent one, but I have yet to see the point of putting it on once you're already well into the turning lane and a few metres from the light. The point is moot by then. This is a Calgary pastime.
"Let's signal my intentions after they are already abundantly clear, but not a second earlier!"

Memo to Calgary drivers; Please make sure you don't do the following
1) Don't turn on your signal when making a lane chance.
2) Please speed up in effort to not let merging drivers in.
3) Drive 80 kms in the left lane of the Deerfoot.
4) Park your vehicle in 4x4's private spot.

Signalling is really grinding my gears lately. I know I've said in the past that I'm a selective signaller, so I'm gonna explain and rant a bit about why I'm perfect, and the rest of you people are dicks...
When I am approaching an intersection, and I am going to turn, I fricken signal. Why do I do this? So that the perpendicular guy sitting there waiting to also turn knows that he can turn. Wise people wait to actually see the vehicle (me) slowing down, to know for sure that the vehicle is turning, but that's beside the point. I hate hate hate you people that are too bloody lazy to signal in this situation. F.U.
I admit that I don't always signal in advance. In certain situations, I start signalling as I'm changing lanes. This is almost always during heavy traffic. The reason I don't give you advanced warning that I'm changing lanes, is so that you don't have time to pin it and block me. In this situation, I am not signalling to request permission to enter "your lane", I am informing you of my decision to move the hell over. This one's a touchy one, because depending on the situation, either one of us is a giant dick. I'm sure I'll get rebutted about this part, but I'll tell you in advance that you're wrong. I'm not an a-hole on the road, I'm just someone that drives efficiently, and I do not get bullied by dickheads that have some weird sense of entitlement to traffic lanes.
Also, I need to mention the inconsiderate buttholes that are too lazy to change lanes when they see vehicles waiting to turn on to a road, when it is of no consequence to them to move over and clear the lane. If that was to difficult to comprehend, I wish I could cut up your license. I'll explain it really slowly...
If you are driving down a road that has more than one lane, and up ahead, you see cars trying to turn on to the road in front of you, and if there is nobody beside you.... MOVE THE F*** OVER... And.... Signal! Tell those guys that you're a nice guy, and you're moving over, and then those cars get to get going. We all have somewhere to be. Why can't we all just co-operate, and let everyone in and out, and tell them what we're doing, and not be dicks and box people out? And if someone lets you in, don't be a f***head and go slow in front of them... I can't believe that I am the only person in this entire city that knows this. At least, it feels like it.

I wever will understand the hostility towards people just trying to change lanes. If I see somebody with their signals on, I already think higher of them than 90% of the other jerks on the road and don't mind letting them in. Of course there are conditions - if traffic is slow, okay; if I am already braking, okay; if there is a gap in front of me and I just have to take my foot of the gas to let you in, okay. But, if I see a huge gap behind me, no; if I have to hit the brakes just for you, no; if I observed you texting or allowing massive gaps in traffic to form in front of you, because you keep coming to a complete stop and playing with your phone constantly, then no you're not going in front of me.
But yeah, the biggest pain in the ass are those drivers that are turning but don't let you know in advance. I'll occasionally move over to the left-lane at a traffic light if nobody is signalling a left-turn so I can get by all of the traffic making right turns where pedestrians are crossing. Then one of those guys in the left lane, decides only when he approaches the light that it is time to signal.
In conclusion - 17th Ave should be made into an EB one-way street.

That's just it. I don't think he cares at all. He cares about himself. That's about it.

Oh I know...not wishing for that either. But anyone who has ever had a job like mine where they are bored 95% of the time will understand that this sucks too. The day just drags by...

I think one problem with lane changers is the guy trying to weave through gridlocked traffic. The reality is that these guys slow down traffic because of their actions and others reactions to them. I have no problem letting anyone in most of the time. But when you get the wanker that Ive seen change lanes 3 times in the last two blocks sitting with his nose in one lane and tail in another, Im not going to kindly let this guy in. He's getting nowhere any faster and is just slowing the flow of traffic down more than it already is.

Yeah, the guy who goes to beginning of the line in another lane, and tries to jam his way in...l'll go through hell and back to make sure he doesn't get in (I'm looking at you, Memorial to Northbound Deerfoot guy). Any normal situation though, I think I'm very generous and letting people in is the nice thing to do. Only one car a time though. Let's not get crazy.
I also think a lot of our lane-changing angst issues would be lessened if people waived more. People used to give a thank you wave in this city when someone let them in, or a sorry wave if they made a mistake. Now very few people wave at all. I'll forgive pretty much anything if there's a wave.

Here we go again with this argument. Wait for the folks who come along and tell you that is the correct way to do it and you should be letting this guy in. They'll be here soon. Wait for it...
