Flames Joe Colborne up to 6'5, 220lbs

Mentioned in the Calgary Sun article today.

Quote:
The 6-foot-5 Colborne proudly reports he's now up to 220 lb., extra weight that comes in the form of muscle and not inches around his waistline.
And he's excited to be reunited with Cochrane's Mason Raymond, his good friend and teammate for a short spell with the Toronto Maple Leafs last fall before Colborne was traded to Calgary.

“I texted him right after I saw the signing and told him to quit following me around,” Colborne said of Raymond, who inked a three-year pact with the Flames on Canada Day.

Was 213lbs last season.

Excellent, he really came into his own once moved to the wing.

Can't believe we got him for free basically.

Edit: Obligatory Colborne gifs:

NSFW!

God damn am I excited for this season!

10 more Joe...10 more and then you might win a hitting battle.

JK/ good to see he's trying to be more than just tall.

So much skill. The added size and strength is only going to make him a bigger threat. He has the potential to make a big jump next year

Watching those gifs, I can't wait for hockey to be back. I'm forgetting how much I love it and our players like Backlund

Partially true. Size is kind of useless if you don't use it. He seems to be progressing in the right direction though so hopefully the physical side of his game does a bit more as well.

I really liked his pick up and think he will surprise allot of people in this upcoming year.

He plays well under Hartley as do others and hope Bob gets extended so he can continue his great work with our young players.

going to that much harder get the puck off him. There were a few times he just dominated down low. Can't wait for this season to start.

on a side note jankowski was rumored to put on 15 lbs. This team and the prospects have sure beefed up over the last year.

He was starting to use his size more towards the end of the season, so I'm glad to see he's adding more. Glad to see he's progressing.

I talked with him last week, and he does look about 15 lbs heavier. He's still thin though and could probably add another 10-15 on top of that.

I hope Baertschi - Monahan - Colborne gets tried at least once in pre-season. Both wingers have looked good with Monahan.

I too would like to see that line reunited. A stronger Colborne, more determined Baertschi, and more explosive-skating Monahan would be great to see.

That would put him at what, 190-195? Not too shabby all things considered at this point. Think he'll easily be a 210-215 player if/when he hits the NHL.

Here's a pic from last week in Banff (Gilmour, Janko, Gillies)...

Janko still looks pretty slender, so he still has lots of room to add bulk to his frame.

Man.....I forgot that kid has some FILTHY moves in the shootout.

I hate wishing summer to go buy, especially in this heat, but man am I looking forward to some hockey. The team may not win a ton of games but they should be even more fun to watch this year than last. And last year was pretty damn fun.

That's really odd to say.....last season gets us our highest pick ever but one of the most entertaining seasons I've watched.

Janko could possibly get to 220 or so if he fully fills out in a couple years. He is still quite thin.
