This seems to be common with political (public) committees. A competent, diligent committee would not have permitted our Blue Ring. Have you heard the official Alberta song? That committee was packed with public officials and various representatives of the music industry in Alberta and it sucks.

Alberta licence plate design competition:
Quote:
As you know, Alberta boasts some of the most talented graphic artists in the world. However, when the PC government decided to redesign Alberta’s licence plates, they were completely ignored. Instead, the government chose an American firm to provide design options for Albertans to vote on. Wildrose believes anything they can do, you can do better. We are inviting Alberta artists and graphic designers to showcase their talents and ideas for a new provincial licence plate. Submissions will be evaluated and finalists chosen. Albertans will then vote on the final designs online. Let’s see what you’ve got!
Submission:
Saved as an .EPS or print-ready .PDF
Save your submission as lastname_firstname_plate
Submit your final product to wildrosecaucus@assembly.ab.ca
|
Quote:
Please do not put a slogan on your design. Put "slogan" where you want the slogan to be. The slogan is being determined by a separate online poll.
Please include your relevant contact information with your submission (Name, number, e-mail address, mailing address)
Deadlines:
Design submission: August 3, 12 p.m.
Selection process: August 4
Voting period: August 5-18
Winning announcement: August 19
Prize:
The winning designer will receive a cash prize of $500 and $2,500 from the Wildrose Caucus Foundation to the charity of his or her choice.
Good luck to all artists participating!

^^ And this means absolutely nothing. As they are not in power to select the design anyway.
Just the Wild Rose Party politicizing yet another issue, and whipping their Rick Bell loving supporters up into another frenzy over minutia. Such an unbelievably predicable party. It wouldn't matter what the PC's did. They could bring Jesus Christ himself to the doorstep of their headquarters, and Danielle Smith would say "What's with the sandals?".

How funny would it be to enter one of the three plates and jihad that to victory?

*face palm*
I'm out of new ways to say "designers shouldn't work for free", so instead here's a picture of Craig Endean, who played two games as a left winger for the Winnipeg Jets in 1986.
I figure a picture of Craig makes about as much sense as this political ploy by the Wild Rose... actually I might just make a submission featuring old Craig here.

As a WRP supporter I wasn't aware I could be whipped into a frenzy by Rick Bell.

First of all, that's a highly dubious claim. Second, it's Graphic Designers, not Artists.

Can I get $2500 bucks, and donate $500 instead?

Isn't that what any opposition party would do?

That's the problem, he's loud but insidious. Like the Devil shouting in your ear to distract you while he secretly works the puppet strings.

Most of the time he rambles on and on without saying anything constructive. He's like a chatty cathy doll where you pull the string and he repeats the same thing over and over.

You really should add the alberta.ca web address though Dion, how is anyone expected to remember it if it's not plastered all over our licence plates?

Because, of course, the WildRose would try and troll this into an issue.
