Only concern with Eichel is the American factor. I know I'm getting ahead of myself.

ya, we faced that same factor with Conroy. Once they play for the Flames, they just keep coming back!

But we lost Chris Butler because his wife wanted to work in the US.

For every top 6 C that loves it here, there is a depth D that will bolt back to the Motherland first chance they get.

ya i thought of him but it wasn't as funny. I think Canadians are just as likely to refuse a Canadian team as Americans. If not more so.

I just hope we fight and scratch for every bit of ice like we did last year. Results were painful, but the quality of the entertainment was fantastic. I imagine we'll see a similar season and end up with one of Eichel/McDavid/Hanifin, depending on the lottery.
Yes I agree, both CGY and BUF have very poor rosters lol. I would bet we finish bottom three. What other team do you think is bottom three as you said Eichel/McDavid/Hanifin?

I don't know about Ottawa... I have no idea where they will be.

Not too excited about these new draft lottery rules. We finish dead last and get pick #9 would be brutal, but not too far off from the Flames historical luck. Nothing comes easy for this franchise.

not sure what rules you are thinking of, but last I read you can still only drop 1 spot after the lottery for 2015

The Flames being able to pick Bennett at #4 this year is definitely in the good luck category. Maybe the luck will continue and the Flames will win the draft lottery next year.

Do the flames take Eichel or McDavid at number 1?

I honestly think they'd end up taking Eichel at this point but the draft is a long time from now. McDavid could completely dominate from now until then or something else could happen but if they had to pick right now I'd be willing to bet they'd take Eichel

Carolina's going to be bad this year.

That was one reason Sutter liked his western Canadian boys. We know well that turned out

We sacrificed our lottery win this year so we can cash in next year, when it matters.

From what I read likes to battle along the boards and plays a "power forward" type game. Projected 1st rounder. Was the 1st overall pick in the QMJHL 2013 draft.

Sounds like the type of player Burke likes. Don't think he is a lock for the top 10 in 2015 yet, but he should be a first round pick if something drastic doesn't happen.
Last season he was listed at 190 lbs.

What the hell is the American factor? So what if he's American?

I think he is inferring that Eichel may be more inclined to leave for a American team once he hits UFA (I have that paranoia with some of our prospects sometimes), or that he may not be thrilled if drafted by a Canadian team like Calgary.
