Seriously? Rinne only played like 24 games last year. Him healthy alone likely gets them out of the bottom 5. They have a really good D group. Added Neal, Jokinen, Roy, Ribiero. Kinda skeptical they make playoffs but they could challenge for the 8th spot. No way are finishing 30th.

Solid deals.
Didn't even think about this yet but very true. Makes the signings even better.

Ryan Rishaug@TSNRyanRishaug2 mins

Am told Oilers had interest in Ribiero on short deal, as did Rangers. No state tax in Nashville helps.

Preds also announce the signing of Derek Roy to a 1-yr, $1 million contract. They're paying Jokinen, Ribeiro and Roy $4.55 million combined.
If this was 07-8, Jokinen, Riberio, Roy, and Fisher down the middle would have been scary.

will be interesting to see the Preds this season ... now with Laviolette instead of Trotz and with their new forwards (Neal, Ribeiro, Roy, Jokinen) and upcoming youngsters (Jarnkrok and Forsberg along with guys like Jones, Wilson, Smith and Josi), I guess we'll see a much more offensive team than last year.

They also have pretty good center depth now with those UFA signings. Fisher aside, there's Ribeiro, Roy, Jokinen, Jarnkrok, Cullen and Gaustad ... plus Wilson and Smith are actually centers too. Will be interesting to see who switches to the wing.

I think the Ribeiro signing will be a steal for the Predators. He is still productive and is only a season removed from being a PPG player in Washington. On the other hand I think Derek Roy is a mistake.

Only thing I can think of is Ribeiro's buyout gives him $1.94 mil/yr the $1.05mil takes him close or all the way to $3mil earnings this year.

I'm well aware of who's on the team...I think the coaching change along with a total lack of chemistry is going to blow up in their face...I guess we'll see what up around x-mad time.
