I told YYC Pet Recovery on Facebook and they said this was a scam that's been happening all over Alberta. I assume it was from my Kijiji ad, I've deleted it.

Going to try the crate and clothes thing tonight. I hope it works.

People suck. I'm in Tuscany too, and I'll keep my eyes open for you. I was out of town until yesterday and just stumbled across this thread. If you get any more leads, extortion or otherwise, try to arrange a meet-up in public somewhere like the Sobeys. If you don't have a big, unshaven, scary mo-fo to accompany you, let me know. This can be arranged.

Arrange a meeting with the person and let us know where and when. I think a little CP reunion is in order.

Sorry to hear about all this MissTeeks. We have a large dog community in Varsity where many of the owners have emails on record and we get a weekly update. I will let them know to keep an ear out

I hope it's a scam. I don't know what i'd do with all that anger going through my body if that happened to my dog.

One thing to consider is that a lost dog may panic and hide and hence be close to home. Or they can panic and run until they're exhausted which can result in your dog being farther from home than you might expect. You might want to keep that in mind and put up a few posters in surrounding communities.

I'm so sorry to hear about this MissTeeks, I really truly hope your little one is safe, and home sooner than later.
I can't believe how the police treat situations like this. I have a friend, who is currently in the exact same situation, his dog went missing on Friday, (he actually saw the person who took his dog, and has a description of the vehicle they fled in) reported it to the police, they filed his report, nothing more. He received a call yesterday, much like the one you mentioned, stating they have his dog, and demanded money for it's return. He notified the police, and much like you, was told there wasn't anything they could do.
How is this not considered kidnapping (dognapping) or extortion? And why are the police so reluctant to do anything? Yet, I'm sure if there was any vigilante justice served up to the scum who are taking advantage of people, the police would be quick to press assault charges.

I may go and look for her when I'm around that area. Maybe I'll bring my dog along to help find her.

Yeah. You totally got me. Joke of the year.

Not one person here thought you were serious, nor would you follow through with a threat.
