Plus from the bench Götze, Kramer, Draxler, Mustafi...
Things are looking very good right now for die Mannschaft.
I just hope they don't make the same mistake that Spain did and think they can go with the same team and win again. Good teams need hunger and youth too.
the biggest thing to come too is a striker, since 2006 they haven't had a real top class striker, Klose has been a great poacher but not a great player
in Volland and then behind him Werner they have a chance for that elite striker they have missed, Volland might be ready for 2016 in France

I thought his name was essentially "Bastian Pig Butcher"
I think its intended meaning is pig farmer, but "pig chaser (as in womanizer)" plays on a definition of 'steiger' that is not the one that was intended in the creation of the compound noun.
Been wondering this the whole tournament. What's the story with you Itse? Are you a German living in Finland?
No, I'm just Finnish. For a long time those of us following football have done it by proxy since the Finnish national team has pretty much sucked, and the local league has been even worse. (Both are getting better, but not fast enough to change the culture.)
Over the years this has lead to a situation where probably most Finnish football fans have favourite (and hated) national teams other than Finland, and the more hardcore football fans have favourite teams in at least one major league. Some have them in several.
As far as I know, this isn't actually that rare in smaller countries that don't make these tournaments.
But really it's no more odd than me being a fan of the Calgary Flames when you think about it.
When you regurarly follow a sport, you tend to develop a favourite team, and it's generally one that actually plays in the top tournaments that you're watching, not one of the lower tier ones.
Besides, I'm not very nationalistic, I generally support teams, not countries.

At a approx 3500 person camping/resort in Tuscany. About 2000+ are Dutch. Next biggest group is Danish for some reason.
Atmosphere for the 3rd place game was awesome. Lots of fun, so much orange. Surrounded by Danish who cheered for Argentina during the final. A fair bit of German support but we were outnumbered for sure in theoutdoor pizzeria we watched at.
Danish said they cheered for Argentina because of Messi. They all congratulated me after thinking I was German. Of course I was wearing Hummels jersey and my daughter Schweinsteiger jersey.
Been in Europe for 2 of last three World Cups, might have to make it a thing. Locke and troutman, you listening? Eurotrip 2018.

Perhaps someone who speaks German can chime in?
It directly means Pig Climber, but most likely it's because his ancestors probably came from Schwiensteig (Pig Climb), and therefore are known as Schweinsteiger.
