Congrats to Germany on joining Italy in the 4 star club.
They were the best team in the tournament and deserved to win.

I'm sure the Germans were happy Italy went out early though as it seems they're the only team they can't beat.

Messi with the golden ball? Makes a mockery of it. Wasn't even top three.
He could only have won it because he won man of the match awards for the first 4 games Argentina played. Whether or not we think he deserved them.

Btw, just noticed that the German team was the 6th youngest team of the tournament. Lots of players could still be around four years from now.

Schürrle 23
Kroos 24
Müller 24
Hummels 25
Boateng 25
Özil 25
Höwedes 26
Neuer 28

Plus from the bench Götze, Kramer, Draxler, Mustafi...

Things are looking very good right now for die Mannschaft.

I just hope they don't make the same mistake that Spain did and think they can go with the same team and win again. Good teams need hunger and youth too.

Great game, not sure what those who thought it was boring were watching. I was very impressed with Argentina, I thought the Germans would win 3-0 or 4-1 or so, but they were very organized in defence and had, I thought, the better chances thru regular time, regardless of lacking finish.

The Germans held up Reus' jersey in one of the team photos. Very nice gesture, a real shame he missed the tournament

Was Messi hurt? He was taking a leisure walk the whole game with a few runs slotted in between.

I think it was a tactical choice, allow him to save his energy for quick counters.

Neuer? He may be the best goalie in the planet, but in terms of individual performances during the tourney, I don't think he was deserving of even top 3.

But totally agree, Schweinsteiger was the german heartbeat. He went to war today, and looked it afterwards.

Good hard fought game. A pretty physical affair and not a lot of excessive embellishment, I'll give both teams props for playing the right way.

In the end it had to be Germany. Although they did have their chances, I feel like Argentina was too cautious in the 2nd half and beyond and didn't press enough for the win. Messi with the golden ball is a total head scratcher. He had an okay tournament, but not an MVP by any stretch.

Great world cup overall, one of the best I can remember.

Since 90 Italy, this one is perhaps the second best WC. The best was France 98 by my book. This one has great group play but the knockout highlight was Germany beating Brazil 7-1.

These are the rules of football. France can't beat Germany, Germany can't beat Italy, Italy can't beat Brazil and Brazil can't beat France.
