Looking at the prospect rankings of last year, I predicted whether each prospect's stock will have risen or fallen and whether their ranking will go up or down for 2014. My prediction for the range of where each prospect's ranking will be is also listed.
2013 Prospect Rankings
1.Monahan (Graduated to NHL)
2.Baertschi (down - overtaken by Gaudreau, Bennett, but still high) 2-5
3.Gaudreau (up - another incredible year) 1-2
4.Gillies (down - overhyped by Weisbrod, plateaued a bit this year) 8-12
5.Jankowski (down - overhyped by Weisbrod, good improvement, high ceiling project) 12-15
6.Wotherspoon (up - showed NHL calliper at end of year call-up) 5-8
7.Sieloff (down - because of injury and missed development year) 12-15
8.Knight (down - overhyped by Feaster, given NHL regular #10, good 1st pro year but did not high expectations on competing for roster spot) 15-20

10.Klimchuk (up - notable improvement) 4-10
11.Horak (traded)
12.Agostino (down - plateaued statistically, hype from Iginla trade has passed) 15-20
12.Granlund (up - pleasant surprise, adjusted very well to NA) 4-10
14.Reinhart (up - steady improvement) 6-12
15.Cundari (down - hype from Bouwmeester trade gone, poor year, loaned) 25-30
16.Ramage (down - couldn't crack AHL roster full-time) 20-25
17.Broissoit (traded)
18.Arnold (up - excellent noticeable improvement, NHL sample) 10-15
19.Breen (not signed)
20.Berra (traded)
21.Bouma (graduated to NHL)
22.Kanzig (up - improved play and good camp showings) 25-30

No way Sven's as low as 5. Gillies is our best goalie and the best goalie in the NCAA. I have him at 4-6. Jankowski is in the top 10. I think Agostino should be in the top 15

I don't think Gillies is any longer ahead of Ortio. Not after such an impressive first NA professional season as a 22-year-old.

I think Sven could be as low as 5. Bennett and Gaudreau are definitely ahead. Granlund, poirier, reinhart, and klimchuck could all be ahead of him on some people's lists.

Anyone that ranks Reinhart or Klimchuk ahead of Baertschi is being ridiculous though. Poirier and Granlund are debatable, but even then I think Baertschi is ahead.

Reinhart and Granlund both passed Baertschi in Abbotsford. Ortio showed enough improvement also to pass him in my opinion. Baertschi didn't progress and that's a black mark. Things can change quickly though.

My list:
1. Bennett
2. Gaudreau
3. Baertschi
4. Poirier
5. Klimchuk
6. Wotherspoon
7. Granlund
8. Reinhart
9. McDonald
10. Gillies
11. Jankowski
12. Sieloff
12. Ortio
14. Arnold
15. Kulak
16. H. Smith
17. Hickey
18. Gilmour
19. Knight
20. Kanzig
21. Culkin
22. Agostino
23. Harrison
24. Ferland
25. Ollas Mattson
26. Wolf
27. Jooris
28. Rafikov
29. Van Brabant
30. Hanowski
31. Roy
32. Cundari
33. Carroll
34. Ramage
35. DeBlouw
Another strong draft has boosted our prospect pool.
Ranking the goalies is difficult. All 3 of McDonald, Gillies & Ortio are solid in my opinion.
Bennett is top dog for me, but it's tight with Johnny. Poirier is the player which I'm most excited about, but I still think Baertschi has the potential to become a mini-Hossa. The top 5 all look like top-6 forwards if they pan out. Cannot remember another time where the forward depth was so deep for the Calgary Flames.
Gilmour, Arnold, Harrison & Kulak have all had their stock rise this year. They all look like they can contribute on some level in the NHL.
Big year for DeBlouw, Ramage, Roy, Hanowski and Ferland to prove their worth to this franchise.

Schremp was a golden pick
Petan drafted #43 last year has a much greater ppg in his draft year than either Monahan or Bennett..... Which one should we trade the Jets for him?

Top 5 Flames prospects in dammage79's eyes for the year 2014:
1. Gaudreau
2. Bennett
3. Granlund
4. Ortio
5. Wotherspoon
That's the juiciest top 5 I've seen in a very long time. Add in the rest of Poirier, Klimchuk, Smith et al, The Flames are definitely doing things the right way so far.
I'd like to make an honorable mention to Brandon Hickey, I really am starting to believe that he is 2014's version of Markus Granlund, He's going to get the Rodney Dangerfield treatment for a couple of years but in the end will be one of the highlights once he makes it pro.

Generally, guys that put up less than a point per game (in the CHL) in their draft years don't turn out to be major point producers in the NHL. Guys that put up well above a point per game (in the CHL) in their draft years generally have a much higher chance of being good point producers at the NHL level. I'm not so sure whats wrong with him saying that?

The level of depth is tantalising. It's all about player development now.
I like Hickey as well. Bit of a sleeper pick, but I think he could be a similar player to Brodie. He's in that mold, anyway.
Poirier & Klimchuk are really exciting to me, and factoring in their ETA, potential ceiling, pedigree & skill set I think they have to be top 5 prospects. I would not be shocked to see Poirier crack the line up in October.
Jankowski is a total wildcard. He's like that $5 bill you left in a pair of jeans which you haven't worn in 6 months. One day you reach into your pocket & it's like... well, I won't elaborate.

Found money? At least I think that's what you were getting at with Janko.
Poirier and Klimchuk would be top eight prospects IMO but I don't see how Poirier takes a spot away from Granlund or Sven (#6 BTW on my personal list). Don't get me wrong I think Poirier is a brilliant pick and a very promising prospect. But he'll have to have an epic camp to supplant one of the other guys.
Granlund and Sven have put in their time IMO and should get first crack at making the Flames line up. Will be fun to see how it all infolds.

Wait I dunno much about Gilmour but is he really good enough to be ranked above Ortio and Jankowski?
I don't want to turn it into another thread about Jankowski; he was overhyped, but I still think he's at least top 10.
