Riding Along with the Calgary Police During the Stampede
http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/ridin...e-stampede-309
Quote:
The calls keep coming in. Some idiot gets caught trying to steal a car, and now the owner is beating the #### out of him. Another guy pulls a knife on a bouncer when he’s told that that he can’t take his three beers to go (he takes them). There’s talk of an overdose, updates from the World Cup, notices about impaired drivers, a woman on a bike being followed by a car, and someone who’s just bought a length of hose after losing his will to live. There’s a bar fight. Another bar fight. And another. And another. A 40-year-old male takes a spill down a flight of stairs.

Great find. Wish you would have added one more line (the very next one).
“Alcohol and gravity don’t mix,” one of the cops says. Haha, brilliant

Yep. 11 days of fun and joy for everyone else. 11 days of very much "not fun" for cops, ems and dispatchers.

Meh, if Cops in Vegas can deal with this and worse 24/7/365 then the CPS can handle it for 11 days.

Did I say anywhere it couldn't be handled?

From the story it seemed like they were enjoying themselves. Nothing really that would be out of the ordinary of a regular Saturday night, no? Drunk guys on the street and a bunch of bar fights. Doesn't seem like nothing too crazy.

I probably found the errors in this sentence way too funny, even though the subject of the sentence does add to the humour. Still, I laughed.

Yeah, it seems that it really wasnt all that bad.
The two cops were enjoying themselves more than anything. I will say that I like their attitude, they seemed like pretty reasonable officers.

It has it's moments. You find the fun in your job, or find a new job. It's just really, really busy. Makes the shifts go by pretty quick, too.

Good read, thanks for sharing.
Also sums up why I tend to leave the city during the stampede.

Why did the cops not bust that kid for not having a business licence and a health safety certificate?

Because that would be ridiculous. What a quick way to tear down police-public relations.
