Bennett, then Gaudreau, I'd have Poirier, Baertschi, Klimchuk after that, Jankowski in the next group.

Totally solid forward base, nice to see.

Gilmour was better than a point per game for close to a decade.

That was an easy choice. Can we have round 2 up soon to vote for Bennett?

Rounds 3 to 8 are going to be tricky though. It will be a difficult decision ranking Baertschi, Ortio, and Granlund. I'm also wondering how high to have Gillies, Poirier, and Wotherspoon.

I am also very excited at the Flames prospect depth at forward but the lack of top defence prospects is concerning. Thankfully Gio and Brodie will be anchoring the D for years to come and the forward depth can eventually be traded for defence.

There is no rush, we have all summer.

I think Bingo does 1 per day, and sometimes there will be a run off poll.

How often do 2nd line centers lead their team by 30 points? Gilmour did that with St. Louis. In Toronto he led the team by 50. 127 points when the next highest scorer had 74.

Even in New Jersey he was their top line center. Going to be hard to argue that when he was playing 5 minutes more than anyone else and putting up higher-points-per-game.

I wanted Bennett before most on this board even heard of him but IMO people picking him first is because of draft status.

It is close enough that picking either is understandable without dismissing either opinion

I picked Bennett, but it was really close. I think the difference in their ceilings is so close it's almost non-existent. For me it came down to playing style. I really love that nasty, in your face, aggressive kind of game that Bennett plays.

He's my 3rd pick as well. I was initially upset when the Flames picked Poirier at 23 but Button and his crew knew what they were doing with that pick as that kid IMO is going to be a good NHL player for this organization.

Thanks, you're right. Even more reason to vote Granlund ahead of Sven.

He was a 2nd line center in Calgary because the Flames were absolutely filthy at the time. Nieuwendyk and Gilmour were definitely #1 centers, and Otto was probably a very good #2 center.

It is like saying Malkin is only a 2nd liner.

Gilmour was over PPG in 9 straight years. He put up 127 points one year and you're telling me, he was a good #2c, but not a #1c. You're on more crack than Rob Ford

He also happens to be in the top 20 of all time point leaders in the NHL. I really hope we get a 2 line C like him.

Need the date and time when you decided you wanted Bennett, Then we can poll most people on this board and see if they'd hear of him before then. Thanks

I think and hope that Bennett is the real deal.... but he got his draft status because he fell into a draft that was weak on elite talent. Had he been a year older chances are he would have been picked outside the top 10.... definitely after #6 Monahan and likely #7 Nurse and #8 Ristolainen and #9 Horvat and #10 Nichushkin.

I think he would likely get picked after Jones and before Lindholm/Monahan.

There is no way Bennett falls after Horvat - I think there would be more of a debate choosing between Barkov/Bennett (although most would easily take Barkov) than Horvat/Bennett.

If I was voting who would be the best prospect in the next couple of years, I would have voted Gaudreau . I'm voting in 5 years time and taking Bennett . I really feel he will be the player we need to win playoff rounds/ Stanley cups , in 5+ years time.
