The New Pornographers’ highly anticipated new album, Brill Bruisers, will be released August 26 on Matador Records! Pre-order below.

Of the album, lead-singer and main songwriter AC Newman comments, “This is a celebration record. After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that.” Produced by band-member John Collins (bass) with Newman, the 12-track album was recorded primarily at Little Blue in Woodstock, NY and at JC/DC Studios in Vancouver B.C. with additional recording in Austin, Brooklyn and Vermont. Newman adds, “We wanted Xanadu and we wanted Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which translated into sparklier and faster.”

Brill Bruisers track-listing:

1. Brill Bruisers
2. Champions Of Red Wine
3. Fantasy Fools
4. War On The East Coast
5. Backstairs
6. Marching Orders
7. Another Drug Deal Of The Heart
8. Born With A Sound
9. Wide Eyes
10. Dancehall Domine
11. Spidyr
12. Hi-Rise
13. You Tell Me Where

In advance of the release, the title track along with the album’s interactive artwork is available to hear/view/share at http://www.thenewpornographers.com/

Pre-order at http://bit.ly/StqFFl

We are also happy to announce a fall tour with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart in support of the album including shows at L.A.’s The Wiltern and New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom as well as appearances at Toronto’s Riot Fest and Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Tour pre-sale start at 10am local time on Wednesday, June 11. Go to http://bit.ly/UpktQO for details.

Awesome seeing The War On Drugs on all those lists. Amazing album. One of my favourites from the last few years.

They killed it on Letterman the other night. Hot damn, what a band.

White Lung is far and away my favorite new album this year.
Everything they put out has been great though, so it's not a surprise.

I like seeing that the Lawrence Arms made a "best of" list.
Didn't realize they were still actually making music.

I haven't bought a whole lot yet this year but Drive-by Truckers - English Oceans is fantastic.

I know a lot of people dislike Coldplay, perhaps with good reason, but their new album is quite impressive. Some lyrical missteps aside, it is their strongest work in some time. The music and production is really good.

Agreed. Frontrunner for album of the year for me. Absolutely spellbinding stuff.

I also love the new Sunny Day in Glasgow album, 'Sea When Absent'. David Gray has a new one which is worth a listen if you're a fan - 'Mutineers'.

I am really looking forward to new records from Bahamas, Counting Crows, and my sweetheart, Jenny Lewis.

And this is why I love these music threads. Have heard the band name but never had any reason to check them out. I clicked on the link and eff me if this song doesn't kick ass! Gonna go buy the cd today. Thanks!
