Is there really a debate going on whether Bennett will make the big club? He was one of the younger players in his draft year and he's simply not physically developed enough to play in the NHL right now. Flames will not be foolish with this kid as this isn't the Oilers.

It had been asked, given the viewings of him at Dev camp if the people who saw him thought he'd make the team come fall or not. All I was stating that based on the opinions of guys there it sounds like he'd be better spent developing and getting stronger in the O.

I was agreeing with the thought too. Didn't seem like a debate more of a consensus agreement. I trust management to do the right thing

Bennett is definitely better off for another year of junior. That helps him work on his game, increase his strength and size, and WJC experience would be great.

Good point. Hoping jankowski has a breakout year in college this year. Monahan, Bennett, jankowski, backlund, knight, Reinhart, granlund, Arnold... Great to see so much depth at centre ice in this organization. Granted, they're all still developing, but 3 years from now it will prove to be a wealth talent at the most important position for a team to have depth in.

Not technically Summer but there is the Young Stars tourney in Early September.

Deciding if Bennett is ready for the NHL based on rookie camp scrimmages is a fool's game. If he's ready and has a good showing in training camp/pre-season then he can stick. If he's not ready - send him back. But I'm not making a decision based on a 30 minute scrimmage that featured 2 on 2 action.

Agreed, people need to re-listen to the GM statements about the meaning of the event. Its not a tryout.

I guess for Coyotes they only hold a three day event with no scrimmages (i.e. Fan960 coverage).

Don't be shocked if the Flames make the same change next year.
