It's always a very different setting when you have a team that would love to play counter-attack soccer such as the Dutch.

If Argentina attacked hard against the Dutch, they'd be giving them exactly what the Dutch want, lots of chances for countering.

Argentina is playing very smart too. Both teams are playing to their strengths.

Netherlands seems to have found another gear here. Argentina could not convert while they had control. That very often costs you games.

Predictions made before the tournament are worth nothing. Clearly Spain was not in the same caliber as Brazil and France in this tournament.

It's obviously not Netherlands fault that Spain sucked, they were good in that game. But that was also their most dominating performance, and it was their first game.

This is a much more convincing performance, even if they might end up losing this. Argentina is playing great, and the Dutch are matching them evenly.

I'm really liking this game.

I think the Germans are looking at this and thinking that they're getting very tough opponent who ever they play.

But they're still the favourites.

IMO it's more like both teams are defending very well. Neither is giving the other much anything.

Both have had great spots for free kicks and sent it in to no man's land. In a contest this right, that's where you need to capitalize

I think the Dutch substitutions have been very unwise. Clasie and Janmaat? And LvG is likely to save his last one for Krul if need be. RvP hasn't been great and now he can't bring on Huntelaar or he has to trust Celessen in net barring any injuries.

De Jong was rumoured to be down with a stomach bug and maybe it was an energy thing. I think Clasie has done very well since coming on.

Maybe it was because Martins Indi was on a yellow and this is the idiot that sent off Nani in the CL a few seasons back.

Admittedly though he has had a good game today. So far ......

Playing not to lose is a very dangerous game. It lands you in the crap shoot of a shootout.

Argentina needed this break.

That said, they've almost completely shut out Netherlands, what did they have, 1 shot on goal? 2?

Both teams look pretty spent physically. A fatigue mistake could be the difference

Alternatively, even Germany let in more goals than these guys

This is a great game, IMO. Unfortunately I think Netherlands is going to win.

They didn't suck. France looked very good until they met Germany, and Brazil beat a really good team in Columbia.

Still better than last night. I had to struggle to watch the 2nd half.. this will be dramatic one way or another.

Who would have thought Holland would play two 0-0 games.

Argentina can't attack anymore. They don't seem to have any ideas or energy left.
