Anybody have experience with getting an ISP for a small business? I'm looking into Shaw or Telus for a downtown cafe/restaurant. I'm leaning toward Shaw since they bought Envision and I assume the downtown infrastructure is fairly robust.
How do you apply for a Shaw Open Hotspot? Are there any perks for hosting one?
Any recommendations for software/system that ties into point of sale - in terms of access codes for guests to access WiFi?
As far as I know, the only perks for hosting ShawOpen is your business is added to their hot spot locator app. A bit of free advertising, if you will.
With Shaw, in Vancouver they're offering a 2nd modem for wifi for an extra $10/month, and it's not restricted to just Shaw customers. I like it because I can provide wifi with no worries of anyone trying to hack the router behind my 1st modem.
My history with Telus in the business space is brutal, but to be fair the problem half lies with the business owner who expected 5MB performance but only pay for a 512KB pipe.
