The Nexus S that I replaced had been dropped ~1000 times, dropped in the toilet, dropped in a camp fire, and it still worked fine.
Do not buy a Nexus 5.

There's no recovery from a drop in the toilet. None.

Evolve SMS. What an app.
Love the new 5; it's the red one and it's even brighter than it looks on line. This feels exactly like using a nexus 4 except it's does everything a little bit better.
I will say though, phone manufacturers, the screen is big enough. The phone is tiptoeing on the edge of being difficult to use with one hand.
The other thing is, while there is more real estate to survey, there's still only enough information to go on a screen that's nearly half an inch shorter. Don't get me wrong, the screen is fantastic. But any bigger and I call shenanigans.

I want a Galaxy Note sized Nexus...
I recently got the Red Nexus 5, love it, beautiful phone. Grabbed a white/grey LG flip cover for it too, it's a nice wrap for the phone and the hints of red that poke out are actually nice on the vanilla looking case. Gets dirty as ####, especially out in the field can be cleaned easily.
Case was pricy but worth it.

Where did you get the case MMF? I have two cases now and hate them both. Looking for something else.

I bought a Nexus 5 now as well. I need a strong case. I work in a dirty dusty environment and want this thing protected. Best options for me?

It's the one right from Google Play.
50 bucks is a lot but it's a beautiful simple case.

You can get them from the Koodo store in Southcenter mall. Think I paid about $50 as well.

You guys don't find them to be a pain in the ass when wanting to use the phone? As in opening the case each time isn't burdensome? Do you think it would protect reasonably well if you drop the phone?

Probably something in the Otter Box line would be best for you. They have lines that are very durable and can really seal the phone right up. They use to have water resistant ones as well, not sure if they still do. Of course these add a fair amount of bulk to your phone.

I don't think they make otterbox for it.

Correct. OtterBox does not make a case for the Nexus 5 or 4. If you want a durable case, look for a Ballistic. I use an Incipio DualPro. Hard shell case (soft touch) with a silicone core.

Important Notice!! Google just started a new policy for Nexus 5 users today. They offer one free replacement for your damaged Nexus 5, doesn't matter if you crack the screen or get water damage. I cracked my screen today and Called Google Play Customer Service and the Rep said I was in luck and they just started this new policy today. They will send you a replacement device in the mail and you just ship your damaged device back to them.

So my contract is up in a few months, and I am considering crossing over from iPhone to a Nexus. A couple of questions:
- The Nexus 6 seems to be likely for this fall, correct?
- For anyone that has switched from Apple to Android, what do you miss? Apps, functionality, etc.
I have gradually been sucked into the Apple ecosystem, while still using both PC and Mac, but I have a couple of Apple TVs, have an iPad, use photo streams, etc. I like their stuff. I previously resisted by using devices like Boxee, which cost more and eventually became obsolete and unsupported. Airplay, for example, has never let me down. I have always seen my phone as the most independent of the devices though. The iPad and the Apple TVs are great together, but rarely do I stream from my phone to the Apple TV. Being able to snap a photo and upload it to a shared photo stream for my family to see is great, and I think I'll miss that a little.
But I like the appeal of an unlocked device for the price of what Fido will charge me to be tied to them for two years with a new iPhone. I don't plan on changing providers, but I want to be able to drop a foreign sim in while travelling, etc. I know that you can have your device unlocked for $50, but still... Another $50.
It seems like most or all of the apps that I use are available on Android as well, and while I'll need to buy a few for a second time, I'm OK with that if they're useful to me.
So, to the converts, any regrets from leaving Apple? Even little annoyances?
