It would have been so much better in every possible way if Costa Rica won this.

Well I suppose... but then the goalie saves it. As he did, twice. And then you lose. So you've got to play the percentage, I suppose.

He really did well there. Was on the right side for every shot.
Probably has been doing nothing but practicing penalties during the tournament.

Did the 4 Costa Ricans (3,4,5 and 10) all go the same way? I'd have to watch the tape again.

It's definitely strategic these days. Next time you hear some crap English announcer say 'the lottery of penalties' shoot him.

Look me in the eye
And tell me that I'm satisfied
Were you satisfied?
Look me in the eye
Then, tell me I'm satisfied
And now are you satisfied?

They almost didn't get him on! I'm shocked Van Gaal waited that long. Could have put him in 3-5 minutes earlier. He's not me. He could make a save in the game if he had to.

So we can watch them sit 10 back for 120 minutes again?

Yeah, the only thing CRC successfully executed was the offside trap. Not sure why anyone would want to watch that again, even Itse.

Costa Rica going through would have been better.......lol.
They did almost nothing at all for 120 minutes. Most of us should be overjoyed they're gone.

Different standards.
Netherlands doesn't have to play defensively.
Besides, Costa Rica actually made some decent pushes while they had the chances in the end. They just were the vastly inferior team.
I'd say this is more of a black mark on van Gaal than a credit. Even Greece found a way to score against Costa Rica.

Besides, this was no worse than the other quarterfinals, so I don't see what the complaining is about
Games are starting to slow down when the stakes are rising.
