Nervous moments with that growing amount of corners Colombia won in the last 10 min but Brazil through.

Gustavo will be back to protect the backline. Wonder how Neymar is.

Rodriguez a very good player..solid running with the ball and driving it into the heart of defenders, where he finds the open man as he attracts attention.
Zee Germans now vs Brazil. Brazil have their hands full in defending.

I believe in the Jays.

Why does Colombia not use Jackson Martinez? He is a quality striker and couldn't get in the game. Seems like a strange decision, unless he picked up an injury or something.

This was one of those games which needed a harder referee. A card or two at the beginning and it would have been a much cleaner game.
Probably Neymar doesn't need to suffer that somewhat pointless foul late in the game. Really hope it doesn't cost him the tournament.

Especially since they won't have Thiago Silva vs Germany.

Sounds like it might as it has been reported that Neymar has been sent to hospital in Fortaleza

Pretty physical and dirty game. That cheap tackle on Neymar better not cost him the tournament.
I was confident against the Germans, but with the best back in the world out its going to be a challenge. Dante is good, but Silva is a monster Brazil will have to be very organized defending.
The German back 4 is nothing special and can be opened up, should be a interesting match and if Neymar is out as well then the Germans will get a easy buy into the finals.

Looks like a back injury for Neymar, hope it doesn't end this WC for him. Germany played a strong fundamental game but wasn't far from spectacular. They were strong on the ball but that was about it. Minus T Silva and even Neymar, Brazil should still be favored to win.

We'll see if that's actually the final diagnosis/result; for the longest time this week he apparently wasn't supposed to play today with the hamstring issue.
Notice how he bailed in celebrating Silva's goal? Wonder if that contributed/compounded the injury later on the foul he went out on? Don't doubt he's got a back injury of some sort, but the severity, coming from a Brazil team doctor no less, would be interesting to see if holds for Tuesday, or, for a potential final in a week +.

Soccer or football is such an unforgiving sport, it hates on aging players and beats the hell out of mistakes. Is this a fair way to analyze the sport from a Canadian perspective?

it was a bad refereeing assignment, this was the ref who did England-Uruguay and didn't have a clue.
Tomorrow the Italian ref gets Argentina-Belgium and the Uzbek ref gets Holland-Costa Rica
The Uzbek ref will be setting a record, his 9th World Cup match.

would you have subbed out Neymar after Luiz scored? Neymar was carrying a yellow card from the first game.

It's the Germans who have all the luck. Or does it pave the path to either Argentina or Netherland's world cup win?

Agree Neymar has had a tweaked hammy since the Chile game. But make no mistake it was a knee to his spine on a reckless play that unfortunately has put him out of the tournament. It would have been avoided if the ref would have carded the Colombians when they took down Neymar twice only minutes prior. A card would have settled things down. Not saying the Colombian did it intentionally but the ref could have controlled the tone of what was going on from both sides.
It is a real shame that soccer fans can't watch Neymar in the semi finals.
I don't think Brazil has a very good chance beating Germany without Thiago Silva. Missing the high calibre of a player like Neymar is a massive blow he draws 2, 3 defenders at all times like Messi or Mueller does.

The Brazillian team doctor Lasmar says "It's not serious in the sense that it doesn't need surgery, but he'll need to immobilize it to recover,".
Fractured Vertabrae sounds much more serious but I hope Neymar could come back if Brazil was in the Finals a week from now.
