The liquor thing is weird because most Stampede parties take the time to get special event licenses anyways, so drinking can pretty much go on anytime. This is just about bars trying to get a few more drunks in the door at 8am and using the Stampede as a cover.

Oh boy! We get to deal with drunks at 8am now for a week straight |
Is this a new development?

Finally all the money being thrown at Councillors by the Homeless Lobby groups is finally paying off! Well..at least I hope that was money they were throwing at them.

Do they still offer that roast beef buffet in the Saddledome? If so, anyone know what the cost is?

The AGLC Licensee Handbook states:

5.3.10 All liquor containers (e.g., cans, bottles, etc.) must be opened
by licensee staff before being served.

Went to sneak a peek tonight. My first time going to the Stampede in a decade. I was pleasantly surprised. The wait for rides wasn't too bad at all, the crowds were decently light. Will probably wait 10 more years before going again. The vendor section in the BMO pretty much felt like one giant "As Seen On TV!" advert.

You can't seriously believe that 2 hours earlier is going to have a negative impact?

As I said in my original post, for one off events, sure, it's not a terrible idea.

But I do see having the Cowboys tent or Nashville North open & serving at 8:00 as a potential recipe for disaster. The tents are messy enough during their regular hours, so why stretch it out further? I'm also not just thinking this year, but going forward if 8:00am serving times during Stampede becoming the standard.

Is there any place to bet on the chuckwagon races? Either in person or online? My online sportsbook doesn't offer chuckwagon betting (obviously the event is pretty small and localized.) Does Shanks off-track betting do chuckwagons?
It always makes it a little more interesting to watch the wagons when a small wager is involved.

I went to the parade today, watched the whole thing for the first time in a few years.
I didn't see the Mayor though, was he there or did I miss him. There was a few other politicians and the Mayor of Lethbridge.

I must say I was expecting a little more presence from the Flames, they had a float with all their teams which was okay and the Stampeder cheerleaders which kinda saved the whole thing in my view, it was just okay.

Otherwise it was a good parade, could have had a few more marching bands. I liked the military tanks, troops and marching band as well as the RCMP.

My favorite thing was probably the Native Warrior, may have been from the Siksika band.
