Darcy Regier named AGM of the Arizona Coyotes
Hope he can help Don Maloney in filling the many holes on this team.

It makes me wonder if Maloney is planned to move into a President role in the upcoming years. Regier has been a GM for generations it seems, and thought he would be waiting for another GM position!

Nothing wrong with calling them Arizona other than them now being alphabetically ahead of Calgary. The Coyotes play in the same place as the Arizona Cardinals who used to be called the Phoenix Cardinals so it all makes sense.
Just be happy they kept it simple and are not something like the Glendale Coyotes of Phoenix Arizona.

It's not like they're alone in being named after their state instead of city.
- Carolina Hurricanes
- Colorado Avalanche
- Florida Panthers (not even the only team in Florida, even when they were given the name)
- Minnesota Wild
- New Jersey Devils
- New York Islanders (are they named after the city or the state?)

My post wasn't implying that using the State name was wrong, just that I said "Arizona Coyotes" to myself and thought it sounded really stupid.

My muscle memory is off because of the stupid name change....I'm not used to clicking the Flames so far down the list on NHL.com.

File a lawsuit with the NHL, and force Calgary to change their name to "Atlanta Flames of Calgary".

Could change it to the Alberta Flames. Not like there's any other NHL teams in Alberta.
