If you can move Wideman for pics/prospects while retaining salary and add Del Zotto instead I think that is a really good use of our biggest asset cap space.
We know wideman isnt part of our future playoff team. Del Zotto returning to form could be. And it allows you to trade Wideman without having a big whole.

Pretty boring in terms of player movement since the management has changed

Good value in 3 of the four deals though IMO and really 4 considering what the addition of Westgarth did to that Nucks team alone. I do think we are going use the trade route for sure though to take advantage of some cap-strapped teams.

Tried finding the "bad teammate" article about Del Zotto and can't find it. Maybe I'm mistaken? Anyone else read anything like that?

Setoguchi would be my choice for all the reasons already mentioned.
Last year was really the only statistically bad season that he has had. With the exception of last year, he has paced for at least 20 goals over an 82 game season in every season he has played (so 6 of 7 seasons).
If you want a guy who has a good chance at being a 20 goal/40 point player, then he would be a good pick up.

Always liked Mueller, hope he goes somewhere and shines.
Always hoped Ryan Stoa would have done better in the NHL, he had plenty of chances with Colorado but never seemed to be able to make that next step to the big leagues.
Was a fan of Yip and his time in Colorado...haven't even heard his name in a couple of years.

I hope it's Calgary, maybe Treliving's relationship with Vrbata gives us an in.

Actually, I don't want the Flames to sign anyone else now......at least on forward I don't. Pretty full up at this point and we should have at least a half dozen forward prospects banging on the door all season. If healthy, Gaudreau, Baertschi, Granlund, Reinhart, Knight, and Ferland are going to push all season for NHL roster spots. Plus there are still guys like Agostino, Wolf, Arnold, Vanbrabant, Hanowski........jesus, lots and lots of guys knocking on the door. Shouldn't be signing any more forwards at this point.

I think MDZ is almost a player you have to take a low risk on as he is still very young for a Dman and he could have some serious upside. This guy was an untouchable 2 years ago. As long as the contract was right, 2 yrs at 2.75 per or something like that, it is a low risk/ high reward potential situation.

Peckham and Engelland would be a solid 5/6 pairing. I imagine Theo is available for probably around 1.9 a season.

Giordano - Brodie
Del Zotto - McBain
Smid - Russell
Engelland
That D core going into the season, with room to grow, would make me happy. Wideman should get a decent return with salary retained.
