I have to disagree. When you look at Iggy's age I think the term is too long. I also think Iginla is going to have some trouble keeping up with the quicker Avalanche players.
His best opportunity was in Boston where he was a grea fit with thier style of play. Money over a chance at the Cup seems to be the motivating factor with Iginla

Hopefully Iggy proves the guys on TSN wrong who are saying that he won't be able to keep up.

I hope he does too or it could be a long 3 years in Colorado playing on the 3rd or 4th line.

Not to mention they arent icing the same team as they did last season...things changed there enough from last year to assume that it wont be identical from last year.

I'm not so sure.
He led the Bruins in scoring and was hated on by fans for his value vs salary.
II'm worried he will be that guy times ten now

Damn, I think Don Meehan is all about the money, not Iggy. I would've told Don to piss off as the Avs is a young team that don't have a shot at the cup for another 5 years. Right now, as it stands, there are 5 other teams (Hawks, Kings, Blues, Ducks, Sharks) far superior to the Avs and those 5 teams in the Western Conference can be Cup winners next year. Avs are probably where the Blues are 5 years ago and it's probably a setback for them to lose Statsny.

Interesting trade. Wanted to see him join LA, but I don't think LA really wants him. Still reuniting with Reg and Sutter woulda been cool, and I think LA is still the team to beat.
Colorado is definitely a team on the rise, but they may have overreached a bit last year. They definitely have a few weaknesses, and the playoffs proved that. But even if they take a step back next year (points wise, as development wise, they'll probably be right where they should be) they'll be a top tier team very soon. Maybe in Iggy's last year?
Although, and I'm just throwing this out for fun, hasn't the Jack Adams shown to be a bit of a curse for the coach/team that wins it?

Part of that is due to teams overachieving hence the coaches getting the award. As much as Roy did a great job last season everything that could go right for them pretty well did. I feel they should still be a playoff team but they will probably fall back into the pack as they are not a lot different than the Leafs the year before in that they got outplayed nightly but defied the odds.

It'll probably be as soon as they can get 2 top pairing defenseman. I haven't seen anyone comment, but I can see while a lot of people can see a lot of talent up front, did everyone ignore their blueline being pretty average?

Watch him keep up his 30+ goal consecutive seasons. He won't be doing that on 3rd or 4th line duties. And you don't pay a player $5mil+ for 3 years playing 3rd or 4th line. Travelling is going to wear him down. Too bad the Bruins didn't want to renew the contract to a 3 year term like what the Avs did.

Agreed, the nature of the trophy makes it likely it'll be given to a team that has a rough next year. At least comparative to the year they just had.
Although, I don't remember the teams rebounding quickly either. (like within 2-3 years) When was the last time a Jack Adams winner took the same team he won the trophy with to the cup?

Yup, I think that's probably correct. And depending on how things develop it could could be as short as a few years, or it could be a real stumbling block. I could see it going either way.

He will adapt to the style of play in Colorado and be a good top 6 winger for these 3 seasons.

Bruins had no cap space to resign Iginla for the dollars he and his agent were asking. That said he might have been able to stay if he accepted alot less money. In the end he lost his best chance at getting the Cup.

Oh go on then, we'll give them Jones for a 2nd. They like overpaying us with draft picks for poor players don't they?

In his younger years there is no doubt about his adapting. My problem is his age and the fact he has lost a step, something you see alot when players get older. He couldn't keep up in Pittsburgh and was then able to find a team (Boston) where the style of play fit his game.
I'm also concerned that he chose a team like Colorado based on the money and term and opposed to find a team that fits his play. He could have done a Brad Richards and signed for a lot less in Boston.
