IS that correct?
That's right, Brian Sutter is responsible.

Completely agree. It's just fun to try and match playing "styles" to current players. Unless you're being compared to Eric Tangradi or something.

Pretty sure the hockey gods owe us one for Gary Leeman. Hopefully this kid is it.

I understand, but this makes the players being compared (Bennett) to meet those expectations.

I hope he puts on some weight (and builds strength) this summer, comes to camp and absolutely forces his way onto the roster like Monahan did last year.

If he doesn't though, that's fine too. I'd be perfectly OK following his season in the OHL and watching him light up the WJC with (hopefully) Klimchuk.

It's not out of the realm of possibility, by most reports it looks like he's only 7 lbs lighter than Mono was last camp.

It'll be interesting to see what Bennett weighs at the start of the real camp.

hoping these three things happen.

1) Goes back to junior and is the best drafted prospect not in the NHL next year, like Drouin.

2) Becomes a Toews like situation for the Flames where he falls and becomes the face of our franchise

3) Becomes as big as Doug Gilmour for our team and hopefully cup run

Has anyone else had the excitement NOT wear off yet that this guy is going to be a Flame for a very long time?

I'm still giddy!

When he was being compared to Gilmour and kind of looked like him on the ice, I wanted Bennett to be a Flame as #1 choice. I thought Ekblad would slide to 4th but extremely happy Bennett is a Flame.

That's probably it, but what a weird thing to say. The top of the draft was four players deep, with a very realistic chance that each player could go anywhere from 1–4. A player like Josh Ho Sang or Roland McKeown are players that I would say had fallen, but not Sam Bennett.

It has probably been mentioned already, but I just checked Sam Bennett's NHLE based on his last Juniour season, and discovered that it is identical to Nathan MacKinnon's. Bennett was only 2 mos. older than MacKinnon when he was drafted, he is very close in size and weight, and given how well rounded his game is, I think that this is something that is likely significant. Bennett could very realistically become the best player from the 2014 draft.

Selfishly I hope they return Bennett to junior so I can watch him a ton.

So happy with this selection, he was my top forward and has a lot of room for growth.
