bm=om=eing

AKA- bold moves equals old moves equals edmonton is no good.

Seems like Steve Yzerman is making room. Lecavalier or Richards maybe?

It could be good for Gagner but we all know what Purcell is in for as the scenery in Edmonton is last place in the Western Conference.

And that helped the team finish last in the Conference but I guess for Oilers fans it's all about individual accomplishments.

trading Gagner for a 6th AND retaining salary (which they can't do anyways) to Arizona would be disastrous...we'd still need a winger to replace him and overpay in the UFA market

not sure how this doesn't benefit the Oilers
You no longer have that 2C center to play behind RNH. What will happen is the Oilers brass will push LD into the lineup too early to make up for that that 2C loss.

Rushing players into the lineup before they are ready is what the Oilers do best. Surely you can't be happy about that.

Yzerman so smart. Avoids a buyout and gets 6th.

Oilers have to give up assets. They either do it now, or trade for Purcell from the team he chose the over the Oilers. UFA's spurn Edmonton, unless they're looking for a retirement deal like Ference.

Oh, but you see, in Oilerworld, they acquired an asset by getting rid of Gagner. Because Gagner now has negative value, you see, whereas yesterday he was a core player and a bright part of the rebuilt rebuilding rebuildedness.

Lying with Numbers, Lesson 23: You can make anything look like an upward trend by choosing a sufficiently awful baseline.

we gave up a guy with negative value for a guy on a bad contract...something he probably would've gotten in UFA

MacT must be targetting Purcell all along. If he waits for him to become UFA he knows there is NO chance for Purcell to sign with the Oilers because Edmonton is NO GOOD!!! So, he forced him to play for them and MacT also got rid of Gagner's contract.

Terry Jones @sunterryjones
I wonder. Teddy Purcell a legit RW. Sam Gagner who knows? You don't think MacT is setting table to trade Nail Yakupov?

Yeah the only way they were going to get Purcell was to trade for his contract. His size addresses a need but he's soft which is an ongoing issue with that roster and he's going to find it harder to collect points in the Western conference. Not to mention they are placing a lot of pressure in an 18 year old kid they just drafted. It's kind of like RNH all over again.

Actually, in Edmonton this might in fact be a good deal then.

Sam Gagner should have been converted to the wing eons ago. Any GM or coach worth his salt would have known this at his first training camp.

Instead the Oilers let his value slip and slip and slip until it is basically worthless. Move him out so the next young player gets a gift wrapped roster spot without having to earn it.

Just a poor organization, learning nothing from past mistakes.

Absolutely. I mean, Purcell clearly wasn't interested in playing well in sunny Florida for a good Tampa team, I'm sure moving to a poor Oilers team will inspire him.
